The New Magic Word for Branding is Collaborations

- Brand collaborations used to be sparing, targeted, special even. But now we see a feeding frenzy of tactical virality based on one magic symbol. The collaboration cross (X). No collaboration is too kooky, no partnership too wacky in this patchwork harlequinade. But why do brands collaborate? Ben Schott of Bloomberg Opinion breaks it down.

Ben Schott is always on point.
That man has a really huge head compared to the size of his body.
So I’m filtering through the all of Bloomberg videos to find this guy, and it seems like it’s a new series or they’ve not put enough attention on this Quicktake. This needs its own whole entire one-off. People are engaging more with Schott’s videos over any of the other Quicktakes.
Great article .Thank you for presenting this fascinating subject of modern logo collaboration so well !
High Quality Video and easy to understand
Wow, these Ben Schott videos are all great. The language is concise but illustrative, their content is right on the money and interesting, and filled with specific examples. I hope we get another one soon!
Excellent presentation and collaboration differentiation. Numbers don't lie - physical location isn’t necessary for the business in 2024 like it's not enough to solely rely on your brand audience. The brand collaboration will play a pivotal part in New Marketing, and soon, we'll see collaborative retail stores, websites, and more. Collaboration is not only an effective marketing strategy, but it also works as a great networking tool. We’ve helped more than 100 brands to showcase their product in a pop-up store where your target audience is met. We can help you also.
I have just devoured all three of these Ben Schott Bloomberg QuickTake videos one after the other. THIS is the intelligent, well produced content I’ve been looking for on CZcams for so long! More please! Marketing Week with Mark Ritson need to be looking to these as a great formula!
Are you suggesting perhaps Marketing Week should do some brand collaboration with Bloomberg?
I subscribed to Bloomberg Quicktake for Ben Schott alone.
A lot of people become so competitive, or they have this toxic, competitive mindset, that they don’t realize that collaboration is Simply Better than fighting a dumb fight.
"Colab à trois " is my new favorite expression
Interesting point, but is there too much collaborations? Some are nonsenses
Amazing content, more please!
Thank U for sharing…
schott on point always!
Top tier content!
Great video. Subscribed!!!!
This is really interesting
Idk what’s it called bit you forgot the giveaway collabs.. that usually happen between a lotto company and another company (like a super market brand) but it could be another company. Ik where I am there’s literally a Monopoly and McDonalds collab and it’s like you buy this much stuff and you’ll be entered into a draw for a car kind of thing..
Or is that similar to another you have mentioned?
Nice vid
Cactus Jack X Jordan X Nike is the best collaboration in Sneakers history
I'm kind of disappointed you didn't collab with anyone to make this video though.
Aaahhh... the metaverse. You have customer base, we have customer base who about we merge them for a while and maybe some of ours will become also your and some of yours will become also ours.
I checked to see if that pinball machine was a real thing. It is, but what exactly is this "supreme" thing?
a clothing brand which gained international popularity for it's appealing logo, insane collaborations, the mysterious aura from their complete lack of advertising, and the scarcity created by their limited releases. They've sold bricks, pinball machines, crowbars, helmets, suitcases, spray paint cans, and a LOT more, all with the supreme logo and identifying red- and all of which sold out instantly. They've developed a cult following and some who try to accumulate as many of their designs as they can, like creating a rare collection. they're really a phenomenon who have benefited from collaborations more than any other brand i can think of.
How did i get here

Now we all want is Apple x Tesla x Sony collaboration.
wanna collab, bloomberg?
I see the ‘x’ in the film industry and it makes me wretch everytime, I see it, it is pretentious
New Magic Wand the Tyler song /j
First off Taco Bell and Frito lay didn’t collab together. Pepsi owns both of them so it’s only right for them to sell their own products there. Same with Mountain Dew and Doritos. Both the same brand… Pepsi.

Just imagine the sales people
Umm.. They already collaborate. Samsung provides Apple with OLED displays for the iPhone as well as other smaller components and chips.
