I had some issues with the adjustment of the regulator, but will try again based on your thorough efforts. I sent 2 of 3 magazines bak for the same issues, ATI was quick to replace them at no cost. Informative video, helps in disassembly. A few false observations. ie the "plastic thing" that falls out and you "don't need" is a sealing washer between the barrel and the large rearward barrel set screw. If you have removed the barrel you will see this system used orings to seal on each side of the barrels transfer port. The manufacturer does this with a single piece breech system for ease of manufacturing. If you reinstall the barrel and do not use the plastic piece between the barrel and the set screw you will have a small leak of air through the threads of the set screw. Just one of the things I picked up on.

For many of us being able to adjust/modify/tune our airguns gives us as much pleasure as shooting it and it is thanks to pioneers like yourself that a trail is blazed for us to follow. I bought one inn.22cal. a few months back. I was waiting for a scope and rings and an adapter for a moderator. Finally got everything an realize I have no fill probe. Some guns do not come with one and some do. I do not remember seeing it but never the less I tried to acquire one form ATI. I did not try to get it using a warranty. I just wanted to purchase one. I was told I had to purchase another gun to get one. ATI has NO PARTS what so ever for the air rifles they are a US distributor for. I do not think I will buy anything else from American Tactical-US.

      The guantlet is the gun that started the fair price full feature PCP trend. But it just has too many issues for my liking. The biggest is the cocking bolt. I have a lot of experience with that design and it just wears out too fast and becomes hard to cock and needs a lot of attention.

    Thanks for your videos. I have this rifle and is a realy good one for this price.
    I like the power adjust in "High and Low", because for doves I use it in Low power with Crosman Premiere 14.3 grains pellets and is amazing. More than 90 shots and no refill. And for Hares or Rabbits at long distance I use it in High Power with heavies pellets like H&N Baracuda Hunter Extreme in 18.52 grains and is realy good too. I can go for hunting only with 2 different pellets and adjust the power for each one in a second, and reverse for the othes when I need it. Only need to know where aim with each one...
    Hammer Spring´s pre load adjusters, or Regulator adjustments are for different kind of rifles. Different uses. Not this kind of simple, cheap, and Entry Level Rifle.
    Yo can play with hammer spring preload, or Reg adjustments as you show. But in the end the "LOW & HIGH" power adjustment is a REALY GOOD ADVANTAGE in this rifle.

    Question about fpe, I assume the fpe is read right as the pellet leaves the barrel?
    If so, How do you knowl the fpe at the time of an actual strike on a target? say, at 25 yards.
    It must change over distance, no?
    I absolutely love your videos. So clear and precise.
    I recently purchased the Umarex Origin. I believe the mods you have employed for the Liberty may work with the Origin. Pretty sure they're the same manufacturer too.
    I haven't fired my Origin yet, still watching repeatedly to learn your mods before I dismantle it.
    I watched another vid of the sweet spot for multiple rounds based on psi for the Origin, the Origin is a 3625 psi rifle.
    If I'm not mistaken, I believe the psi sweet spot for the Liberty can be had with the Origin as well, with tweaking and mods, opinion?
    Also, an idea of sorts, I think (and I could be wrong) with some mods I could change the barrel to shoot .25 rather than .22 and still have efficient psi to find a sweet spot .... opinions?
    This is my first pcp and I'm hooked.
    Thanks, again, You do phenomenal work here.

    • @AirVelocitySport
      @AirVelocitySport  Před 3 lety

      Thank you for the kind words! Yes, the pellet is always fastest leaving the muzzle and velocity slows down the further from the muzzle it gets. I measure velocities at two points using two chronometers one at the muzzle the other at a hundred yards or whatever yardage you'd like.you can then calculate the ballistic coefficient by knowing the velocity weight and other factors such as temperature and barometric pressure along with projectile shape to come up with something called a ballistic coefficient. The reason I shoot slugs in airguns is to have a high ballistic coefficient and thus the slug retains much of its energy even out to a hundred yards. Pellets lose so much more energy at 100 yards because of the shape. The origin is a good gun but I prefer regulated guns. Regulated guns allow you to shoot more consistently. Generally irregulated gun shoots a flat curve until it reaches the regulated pressure and then reduces. The Liberty and the air Venturi Avenger both have a regulator that allows me to get very consistent shots weather at high power or low power. The origin will have to be shot at a PSI range as shown in hajimoto's video. I believe the flattest curve is between 3200 PSI and 2600 PSI but don't quote me. As you get into pcps more you will really appreciate a regulated gun and you don't have to spend a lot of money to get a great one but you will have to purchase a compressor as you will go through a lot of air and you do not want to be hand pumping regulated guns that have a fill pressure up to 4350 psi. Believe me I understand that it can be expensive but it doesn't have to be a young hang compressor for around $300 a bottle for around $400 and maybe a few accessories for another few hundred and you are set for a very very long time.I know not everybody has a lot of money but if you really enjoy shooting it will be money well spent. I wish you a ton of luck and happy shooting.

    • @AirVelocitySport
      @AirVelocitySport  Před 3 lety

      Yes you can probably modify the origin but because it is unregulated you may alter the shot curve by opening up the transfer and barrel Port.unfortunately the only way to know is to actually do the mods and then test using a chronograph.

    Just getting into air rifles, and am making my way through "springers" and "piston" guns. Accuracy is paramount to me, while still being able to take small game. I am considering the Nova Liberty.... but along with PCP comes the need for a compressor (for medical reasons I cannot use a manual pump) which costs far more than the rifle. Would be interested on suggestions for a QUALITY, yet reasonably priced compressor for PCP guns.

    • @AirVelocitySport
      @AirVelocitySport  Před 4 lety

      Generally quality and cost are correlated. Obviously the more something cost the better it should be built. There is a very large Gray line with price and quality when it comes to PCP compressors.at around the $1,200 Mark you have the middle of the road air Venturi and hats on compressors. These are pretty good compressors but not the highest. Around the four thousand to $6,000 Mark you find the British high-end compressors. On The low end you have the young hang style compressor at around $300 in my opinion the young hang at its price point has much more value than the $1,200 compressors. The young hang does need a little bit of care in order to have some. But they are no more fragile than the $1,200 compressors. it's true that at the $300 price point you are more likely to have a few little issues that need to be taken care of. But in my opinion it is worth the $900 savings.

  • @robertfeddeler5508
    @robertfeddeler5508 Před 5 lety

    That little peice of plastic you talk about around the 27 min mark in the vid is a way for sealing. The transfer port is right below it and there's no other sealing to keep the air pressure from getting to the grub screw hole. Will it let a lot of air out when assembled, no but I believe that's why it's in there. Mine has a rubber Oring in place of the peice of plastic.

It might make sense to buy both caliber guns and swap the stocks. Thank you!

    The regulator is a one way valve and therefore traps pressurized air between it and the firing valve. After depressurizing the tank, most rifles need to be dry fired several times to drain the small amount of trapped regulated pressure air. If ATI was planning for a 25 cal Nova, I might wait but The Gauntlet .25 is a ready to use package for about $270 delivered and already has 46 ftlbs. Getting that out of the 22 Nova will cost how much?

VERY EASY TO TAKEOUT AND INSTALL THE NEW ONE ! .MAN I AM VERY EXCITED ABOUT THE BARREL ONLY DRILL TO 3/16 ,WOW !!!! AWESOME VID AND MOD BRO !!! MY NOVA IS VERY ACCURATE TO 150 YARDS AND WITH A LITTLE ELEVATION ,PRETTY GOOD TO 200 YARDS ,THIS RIFLE UP TO 100 YARDS IS A SUPREME TACT DRIVER !
    FOR ALL YOU PREPPERS OUT THERE ,THIS ,WELL THE NOVA FREEDOM WITH BUILT IN PUMP ,WOULD MAKE THE ULTIMATE SURVIVAL RIFLE CAPABLE OF TAKING OUT WILD HOGS EASILY WITHIN ID SAY 50 YARDS ! WITH ALL THE POWER MODS ID SAY ANY ANIMAL SHOT WITHIN 15 TO 25 YARDS IN THE EYE OR JUST BEHIND THE EAR IN THE HEAD WITH ESPECIALLY HEAVIER PELLETS OR SLUGS WOULD DEFINITELY PUT DOWN THE ANIMAL !
    IN A SO CALLED (S.H.T.F.) SCENARIO , YOU MAY NOT HAVE THE VERY HEAVY SCUBA TANK OR COMPRESSOR TO FILL IT BUT IF YOU HAVE THE BUILT IN PUMP THAT COMES WITH THE NOVA FREEDOM YOU WOULD BE VERY SET FOR HUNTING GAME AND HAVE SOME PROTECTION AS WELL !!!
    I SUGGEST EVERYONE INVEST IN A QUALITY HAND PUMP AS WELL AS A BACKUP AND A WAY TO RE-FILL YOUR RIFLE IN THE FIELD ! REMEMBER A HANDPUMP IS WAY EASIER TO CARRY ALL DAY THAN A SCUBA TANK LOL ... Great video Sir, thank you very much! Quick question about adjusting the regulator; if you just want to make a small adjustment to increase the pressure (1/8 - ¼ turn) is it best to de-gas it and remove the air tube? Or can you move the reg up without taking off the air tube? How do you do it?

    • @AirVelocitySport
      @AirVelocitySport  Před 5 lety +1

      You have to degas the air tube but you do not have to take the gun apart to turn the brass disc between the barrel and air tube. Just stick a paper clip and push the brass disc un either direction.

      I can not say for sure if there is a problem. Try to see if you can take a pic of the lead of the barrel up to the barrel port. If you see burrs or the rifling is damage it could be a proboem. If nothing looks bad then try and shoot some 50 yard groups. Also you can try to run a Q tip down the lead of the barrel just past the port to see if it getting caught up. But first remove any burrs form the port inside and out.

    My Liberty in .177 will shoot a great five to ten shot group, then all of a sudden the group will move up or down and to the side by an inch or more. After another five to ten shots it will move again. I thought it must be the regulator sticking or creeping. I polished the outside edges of the Belleville washers and it seemed to help somewhat. I don't think it is the pellets because it can make some really tight groups before it moves. I have tried increasing and decreasing regulator pressure and adding and removing the hammer spring shims. I checked to make sure my barrel is tight. Has anyone had this problem?

      There is a step about 1 inch from the lead of the barrel but i believe there is a ramp up to the rifling. As long a the drill bit did not gauge and rip the barrel cuasing a sharp Burr then it should not be approved. If it did they I would use 400 grit sandpaper paper to smooth it out.

I noticed the first spacer on the barrel had some play not sure if that’s right? I tightened the set screw back up I also noticed the first o ring before the first spacer had a little card in it when I took it out any ideas of why the gun is not holding air thanks again for all your HELP!

    • @AirVelocitySport
      @AirVelocitySport  Před 5 lety +1

      If you gun is leaking air is not going to be at the barrel or shroud even if it sounds like it is. It is most likely leaking from the regulator oring on the block or breech side. Remember you have to screw to regulator in the regulator block first then screw the regulator block with the regulator tighten down into the breech block to sink the white oring into the block. It does not have to be completely snugged up against the breech block. Just screw it in as much as possible then back it off the algin the regulator block with the breech block. Make sure you use silicone lub on the orings

Can’t wait to go home an tinker I have worked in the tool and die field before so when u say a 1/10 of an inch do u know how many thousands that is ? • @AirVelocitySport
      @AirVelocitySport  Před 5 lety

      Half of an 1/8 is a 1/16 which is .0625 or rounded to 63 thousands of an inch (63/1000) basically, a 1/16 is just a .04" less than a 1/10

      No, the barrel port is just about 1/8th of inch thick. Be careful to protect the other side of the barrel.the barrel Port is a small little hole at the bottom do not drill inside the barrel you will destroy.the receiver gets drilled 3/16th" as well about 2in down to the valve but you must remove the valve before you send the drill down. You can see the same process in my kral puncher Jumbo video. I show in very great detail how to drill down the transfer port and the barrel port. The video is the Kral Puncher Jumbo 25 - review and final modification to 51 FPE. the concept is exactly the same
