Harsil is known for its apple produce, which according to local lore, was introduced to the area by a British settler Fredric E Wilson. It is said Wilson fell in love with Harsil and a local girl, and made this hamlet his home. He introduced apple cultivation to Harsil and changed its economy.

Trekking becomes difficult during the time but offers a beautiful sight. During monsoon, the town is fresh and blooming but landslide may ruin it. Hence, an ideal time to be in Harsil is between the months of April and October.
How long lama top trek ?
Lama Top is a short hike of 2.5-3km in Harsil valley. The trek gives a rare combination of Great Himalayan Views, Beautiful Forest Trails and Riverside Landscapes, the full hike to the top is filled with amazing views.
