- This week Penelope begins the next phase in her build as she heads over to LGF Commercials to begin the box build! Craig also makes a start on some of the cab renovations…

And so, we invested in Penelope the Truck, an ex-army DAFT244 which we will be turning into our full time home on wheels, so we can take her wherever our heart desires to be in the world!

Life is short and you’ll be surprised how ‘affordable’ they are for a longer term project, be borrowed to buy ours but was a reasonable figure for sure!
Amazing, I spent 30 years in the Army so travelled many miles of my life in these trucks. Have an amazing journey converting Penelope guys and hopefully see you on the road one day.

Penelope the Truck Cheers Craig, that’s great. Much appreciated. To be honest, we’d always planned to first head down to Morocco as a shakedown (and we’ve always wanted to experience it), before heading east along the Silk Route to India etc; however, I’m wondering if heading west would be the better option post Covid. Would you be willing to send me the contact details for the RoRo option? I’d be extremely curious to know the cost/admin involved. Again, many thanks. Speak soon.

What is the place you work on your truck? I'm thinking about building something like yours, but I live in a flat and there is no yard or anything. Are you renting a warehouse or something?
We had an agreement with a local farmer to use one of his barns, she was covered and had electricity supply, we just asked around locally one day but got lucky as he was the first we tried 😄
Looking good why did you not do cab usb in 12v ?? I fitted usb and cigarette lighter charger with a 24v to 12v unit so I can charge phones and run all 12v items
We have a 24 to 12V converter but I’m not installing it for a while so this is a quick fix for cab power and I will be swapping over to 12v once the converter is installed 👍🏻
