  • In this video I go over how karyotypes are prepared, chromosomal staining techniques (Giemsa (G-band), Quinacrine mustard (Q-band), C-band, and R-band), the different bands, and introduce chromosomal mutations (rearrangements, aneuploidy, and polyploidy).
If you have any questions, let me know in the comments. Thanks and hope you enjoy!

Many thanks for showing this video, all the time I was always thinking how is it possible that the chromosomes are arranged nicely in an array in our cells. When you showed the real picture at 9:39 , and this is not an array at all, things became more clear. I would be very interested in how this array is construed, is there another video for this?

No video on that but a few ways it could be done. Easiest is to just run it through some matching software but it's also possible to play arts and craft, cut them all out, and match them up 😂

Sir, may I ask if it is easier to visualize and measure the chromosome arm, what software do you use?

Sorry I don't do this for any of my research so I wouldn't have any recommendations there.

Not that I'm aware of but I never researched it directly.
