This doesn’t feel like a playthrough, not a traditional one at least. The intrigue, tension, immersion, and character development was genuinely better than most movies out there! I’m glad I got to see your journey, and I’m excited to watch where it goes next!
not many games will be able to handle this type of video style. This will be one of a kind from butch. hopefully he keeps an audience but it will understandably a different feel going forward when below zero is done. Maybe sons of the forest or any other survival crafting games are possible but not much else lends itself to this styling. I hope im wrong though.
It feels like only yesterday I came across the first episode, and thought "this will probably be fun for about 5 minutes." 20+ episodes later, and I'm so ready for Below Zero. Also, as a game suggestion for the distant future, I'd love to see you tackle Outer Wilds sometime, as well as its DLC - I think you'd really enjoy the whole experience. When I first clicked on the "Subnautica: The Movie" in my recommended panel I figured "this'll be good for a nice laugh, to watch some random idiot scream at a screen for a few hours." Maybe 10 minutes in I was sad how much of the mundane stuff got cut out for the narration, so I went to see if maybe if it was just a 'for the movie' thing, and found the entire series as separate videos. Seeing the runtime was longer I chose to watch that instead but man. Now I've grown to absolutely adore the narration style, but I was still pretty sure I was only just going to watch this one series, MAYBE Below zero, and then move on. But that transition between series was so clever and so smooth, you have earned yourself a permanent subscriber. Keep being amazing, Butch. You are such an inspiration.

First time I played through, I stayed with mommy emperor until she lay peacefully. Had a very special relationship with my own mum and lost her to suicide some time ago. Cried when mommy emperor finally succumbed. I felt her relief. It was cathartic but tragic. Butch-your feelings of sympathy and care are shared. You seem like quite a guy. Thanks for helping me to re-experience this incredible event through your eyes. SN means a lot to me because of this bit, and revisiting it again for someone’s first time is incredible. Rock on, cpt. What an absolute joy this LP was to watch. I will admit to deriving a great deal of humor from your struggles, but it was also immensely satisfying watching you overcome your fear. As an emotional vampire that longs to experience this game for the first time again, but never can, LPs like yours are my only window to that experience. I don't really have Thalassaphobia, at least not to the degree you do, but I certainly would tense up every time I had to look at an opaque wall of emptiness (the first time I looked down from the floating island was certainly an... experience). Your editing and narration are so good! I loved that ending bit with the teaser for Below Zero, and I'm looking forward to binging those episodes next. :D

Not going to lie man, you had me misting up a bit there at the end. This isn't content. This is art. Dramatic, funny, and self-aware. An amazing sense of cinematic flow, and timing. I have played through the game an (admittedly) absurd number of times, but I have never once launched the rocket. Even as a kid I wanted to be a marine biologist, and I've never been much of a people person, so the reality is that I never wanted to leave 4546-B. I understand why you needed to push that button though, and I'm glad I was along for your journey.

Now is probably a good time to mention this tip: you can pin recipes to your HUD so you can see the required materials at all times. This feature wasn't in the original Subnautica, they ported it from Below Zero along with some other Quality of Life features.

I started as very curious as to how a thalassophobic person's mind works when experiencing immersion in one of my favorite games and continued as genuine interest towards your progress in the game. I was hoping this series would go on longer. It feels like everyone who plays this game just speedruns through the last part of it super fast. You never even got to really use the ion batteries, and left most of the inactive lava zone unexplored, as well as the dunes.
The funny thing about the ending hunt... it is actually super easy. Every portal in the facility leads to one or more of the plants, and I think the remaining one is in the sea emperor's room. You can do it in just a few minutes. Hardest part my first time through was I had no fabricators nearby so had to take forever to swim back to my main base.
I found you from your Ark ascended lets play and had to come back and check this one. Im sad its already over i cant help but binge watch. Keep it up and looking forward to more Ark!

When I first clicked on the "Subnautica: The Movie" in my recommended panel I figured "this'll be good for a nice laugh, to watch some random idiot scream at a screen for a few hours." Maybe 10 minutes in I was sad how much of the mundane stuff got cut out for the narration, so I went to see if maybe if it was just a 'for the movie' thing, and found the entire series as separate videos. Seeing the runtime was longer I chose to watch that instead but man. Now I've grown to absolutely adore the narration style, but I was still pretty sure I was only just going to watch this one series, MAYBE Below zero, and then move on. But that transition between series was so clever and so smooth, you have earned yourself a permanent subscriber. Keep being amazing, Butch. You are such an inspiration.
Im not gonna lie, I was putting off watching this cause I didnt want this series to end 💔 subnautica is genuinely one of my all time favourite games, and I'm so glad people are still picking it up. I started watching you cause I found your reactions hilarious, but honestly your narration at the begining of every episode, the growth you've made from the first video, and the fact that you actually enjoyed the game too?? 10/10 man. you're definitely becoming one of my favourite people to watch now! First time I played through, I stayed with mommy emperor until she lay peacefully. Had a very special relationship with my own mum and lost her to suicide some time ago. Cried when mommy emperor finally succumbed. I felt her relief. It was cathartic but tragic. Butch-your feelings of sympathy and care are shared. You seem like quite a guy. Thanks for helping me to re-experience this incredible event through your eyes. SN means a lot to me because of this bit, and revisiting it again for someone’s first time is incredible. Rock on, cpt. What an absolute joy this LP was to watch. I will admit to deriving a great deal of humor from your struggles, but it was also immensely satisfying watching you overcome your fear. As an emotional vampire that longs to experience this game for the first time again, but never can, LPs like yours are my only window to that experience. I don't really have Thalassaphobia, at least not to the degree you do, but I certainly would tense up every time I had to look at an opaque wall of emptiness (the first time I looked down from the floating island was certainly an... experience).
Your editing and narration are so good! I loved that ending bit with the teaser for Below Zero, and I'm looking forward to binging those episodes next. :D

Not going to lie man, you had me misting up a bit there at the end. This isn't content. This is art. Dramatic, funny, and self-aware. An amazing sense of cinematic flow, and timing. I have played through the game an (admittedly) absurd number of times, but I have never once launched the rocket. Even as a kid I wanted to be a marine biologist, and I've never been much of a people person, so the reality is that I never wanted to leave 4546-B. I understand why you needed to push that button though, and I'm glad I was along for your journey.

Now is probably a good time to mention this tip: you can pin recipes to your HUD so you can see the required materials at all times. This feature wasn't in the original Subnautica, they ported it from Below Zero along with some other Quality of Life features.
When I first started watching your subnautica series I thought you had at least one million subs, but no. you're severely underrated.
The CZcams algorithm suggested me your first Subnautica video a few days ago. I was instantly hooked. I started as very curious as to how a thalassophobic person's mind works when experiencing immersion in one of my favorite games and continued as genuine interest towards your progress in the game. Excellent editing and presentation. I enjoyed very much watching your journey and I'm glad you enjoyed the game! Subscribed!
I was hoping this series would go on longer. It feels like everyone who plays this game just speedruns through the last part of it super fast. You never even got to really use the ion batteries, and left most of the inactive lava zone unexplored, as well as the dunes.
The funny thing about the ending hunt... it is actually super easy. Every portal in the facility leads to one or more of the plants, and I think the remaining one is in the sea emperor's room. You can do it in just a few minutes. Hardest part my first time through was I had no fabricators nearby so had to take forever to swim back to my main base.
Once you conquer the ocean you start to find more and more areas in a fond light and you slowly find the geology and life beautiful
I found you from your Ark ascended lets play and had to come back and check this one. Im sad its already over i cant help but binge watch. Keep it up and looking forward to more Ark!
