My overall thoughts:
I wanted to know more of what occurred. But wish was told in detail of what happened. Sorry if I rambled in the video, its nearly midnight as I type this and technically was already headed to bed but woke up once I saw this update.
This is steps towards solutions, and I hope for us all they are solutions that we all see positive outcomes towards.
Description has what I have been watching last few days and news from Easy-Anti Cheat, Epic Games, and most of all Pirate Software and his more elegant explanations.

That Pirate guy is a mad genius lol. I saw his interview earlier and his knowledge on this stuff is so freaking cool and beyond my small tech brain. I so hope it’s safe for everyone to play and enjoy this game as it’s my favorite and would hate so much for cheaters to be it’s absolute downfall. To be fair, everything in tech sounds cool or complicated to non-techies. Am a software engineer and see this everywhere, most engineers will tell you that he didn't say anything special. Pirate is an awesome dude , I respect him and what he does.
With all due respect to him, he didn't really say much that people couldn't already infer. Even the IP leak was figured by one of hal's viewers.

Pirate software knows so much about offensive and thus defensive security and has worked at blizzard for years back in the day so he knows what he's talking about
He couldn't give any actual answers on what was happening because he doesn't work at respawn
@zaks7 he helped people in his chat that know nothing about games and servers so yes he didn't say anything some people couldn't infer but he explained it to the people that know nothing about the industry which is what he does in his streams
Cheaters have been running rampant on Apex for a while now... If security was there main priority it would've been fixed before something this bad happened.
What they mean is not getting sued over security issues is their main priority

Except for the fact that Cheaters don't cause security issues, but Hackers do.
Also, it's unrealistic to assume that the devs could recognize and prevent every single hack, cheat, or exploit without having it be brought to their attention first.
No developer or game can keep people from hacking in the game permanently because they brick one or more hacking softwares and then the developers of those softwares find a new way to do the same thing
All they can do is ban the players and brick the software over and over again
All these seasons with hackers and they have not done enough, but now, since it happened in a big event that it could jeopardize their image, they want to jump on it ASAP.
cheaters and 'hackers' are not the same. The recent issues are on a whole other level in terms of seriousness and security risks.
They don't care.
They are too worried about selling us a $700usd cosmetic

Like the pirate guy mentioned in a video where he was talking to Hal, when it comes to updating the players about situations like this. Most companies won't give more details for two reasons. 1. It opens the doors to potential lawsuits 2. They don't want to let the hacker know what their plan is because it gives the hacker the opportunity to makes changes to bypass anything they are trying to do to fix the issue.
The issue for me is that they never give communication in general. Before this, they never gave updates about trying to fix the issues. But in this case, i understand why they don't give more details. I just hope they start communicating with the apex community more. As a player since season 2, i remember they used to communicate more about everything involved with the game, but the communication has been nonexistent for the past 2 years or so.

i would love to have both of you an extensive talk about kernel level anticheat vs. user level anticheat, because this is a topic you care a lot about and he's the guy, who can explain you this topic really well.
I can’t help but agree with some of the other commenters. Nothing being done about clear obvious blatant cheating for so long is the main reason I quit playing for so many seasons. I picked it back up this season but I’m still seeing a fair bit. I just don’t have faith that respawn will do anything about it unless it’s a huge public image like this was.😢

I'm actually happy this happened. It's shining a bright spotlight on Apex's security. Perhaps they will bolster their security team and start ban waves.
We simply don't know if this is server side or RCE. I would wait for a client update.
Thank you for being thorough as information comes out and not jumping on every rumour out there. Lot of people out there jumping to worst case scenario immediately, I mean I get it it's natural but still. Nothing wrong with discussing RCE as potentially the vector for this, and uninstalling the game, while a bit silly and extreme, is easy to do, better than nothing, and doesn't hurt anyone. Plus might light a fire under EAs ass to fix anything that needs fixing and telling us what's going on a bit sooner. All that being said, again nothing wrong with bringing it up as a possibility, but the amount of people I've seen out there repeating RCE as a genuine confirmed fact out there, either in apex or eac is insane. I'm just glad someone out there with a platform besides Thor at pirate software (great guy, glad he seems to be getting a lot more fans now) is communicating what we know and what we don't know, because ea sure as hell isn't going to do it. Good information in these situations is a necessity.
i just wish EAC could say "We can confirm its not on our end" instead of "we are confident" as saying we are confident they could easily pull back from
I said something similar to my brother when he was talking to me about it. I was like "yeah, that wording doesn't make me feel any more comfortable."
I hope they say more because I'm still nervous to download the game again
I dont think EA would tell you what the layer of security is. I think it would give a hacker info on knowing what to attack then.
The only issue with more info, is you let the hackers know that info too, which can be used to redo it better. The less devs say, the less info hackers have to know what the devs know.
Thing is, thay didnt specify what they fixed. If they did, the hacker would know what happened and then.... you know the rest
im just curious, does detecting cheater ingame using ai programmed software really impossible? i think if its ai that do observation job on each players ingame, they can stop cheaters the moment they activated the app to aimbot and wallhack. theres no need for human report anymore because ai can measure how fast the bullet comes out normally which faster in some cheats, and how bullet trajectory doesnt land on the supposed to be direction the gun aimed on

honestly idc what explanation they give, cheating has plagued apex for a while now. It feels as if it hasn’t gotten better but worst. Couldn’t enjoy ranked because of it, now i can’t even enjoy watching comp. I love the game but honestly it’s dead to me now. This is ridiculous. Imo it should’ve never reached this point.
Don’t think this is going to stop the cheating/hacking that goes on in the game but it’s a step forward I think

They have to be vague on purpose or they’ll be telling the cheater makers how to go around these “fixes” that they’ve made
At around 1:10 you ask for context for the hack, Given how game dev security often works, you don't exactly want to say outright what the security issue is.
Everyone's quick to point a finger at what they can do better, but it's not a one sided machine, it's multi-faceted, and cybersecurity requires a lot of mystique in order to not let the others know how you're going about resolving the issue.
If it is a major security breach it could cause a multitude of issues, legal or financial. They're most likely just trying to not only fix the issue but save face as much as possible, which means it's a good thing they paused the competition temporarily while investigating.
@ this point we can just hope they fix it and no one else is harmed in the meantime
I watched a video of the Pirate Guy and Hal earlier and the Pirate guy noticed the Destroyer hacker dude made a big mistake and leaked the IP of the rented server he was hacking with during Hal's malewarebytes scan so if they figure out who pays for that rented server they may be able to identify Destroyer and get him arrested assuming that server isn't compromised and used by multiple bad actors

@@dexmiss194in the full clip from pirate he says he found the IP traced back to a server known to be malicious that was being actively rented out via a company, so no guarantee it’s him renting it or if it’s just a compromised server
@@dexmiss194 it's not so much that he's stupid, but anyone can make mistakes. Even the smartest people will make mistakes. If the guy makes one simple mistake, it will allow them to find who destroyer is. The issue here is, whether they can even arrest the guy. For example, if the guy is from china or russia, you can almosts guarantee they won't be arrested. If he's in the US, he's screwed.

They havent done squat about cheating period. They still in a war with the dark web because of titan fall and that mess that still exists. This goes way back but this one might be new for whatever reasons. The only good thing is THOR got involved

@@frank8917 he clearly already knows things they can at least say if at any point normal players were compromised but it would seem after recent news that most likely just those 2 streamers had their pcs hacked
I know Pirate software says to trust Devs and they're on our side, that'd be good and dandy if they actually communicated that, they ever rarely did, they didnt have to tell us exactly what was happening but atleast make a post acknowledging things that are wrong with the game and reaffirm they are on to it YET they never did address anything, cheaters were running rampant in ranked, top 500 in Pc and Console majority were cheating with software or teaming, they never addressed it even with constant video proof being shown by players but WAIT they have a new heirloom for everyone. GTFO.

Why would i want to continue playing a game where it feels like the devs that made the game doesn’t have control over their own game. After watching these videos on the hacking situation at this point it doesn’t even matter whether RCE or whatever yall call it exists or not. For the vast majority of players all we know is on one of their biggest stages two of the most popular players has been hacked. Where does that leave the regular joe who also pumped his hard earned $$$ into the game. Imagine getting hacked and not having a community to support you or run to. What about the regular player. I don’t have some dev personal contact to call up when there’s an issue. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. I’d rather just play R6 Siege lol. Least i won’t get hacked by some cheater.
What if EAC just couldn't detect anything? Doesn't that make it bad, seems like the in-game reporting works better than EAC.
i mean it makes sense with custom hacks, since eac is the biggest anticheat in the industry, so theres more options to test specially in a f2p game like apex, so best thing to do is report and record a clip of the person and even send that into support to be handled and not flame the devs or eac over it since their livelihoods are based on catching these guys and getting them out of the game also. that said cheating is getting even harder to detect in the future with ai and special adapter cards that can basically act as a macro to control recoil for you in games

There’s no viruses in the game lol it’s fine this hacking was specific to the people that got hacked hackers don’t really have interest in hacking per sau us regular joes. I’ve been playng and the game hasn’t been any worser than usual 😂 it’s ok guys.
