- My art portfolio is focused in Fashion Design and in this video, I describe some of my thoughts and motivations behind the pieces I chose to include.

I also wanted to give a big shoutout to all the art portfolio videos out there because they are what guided me through my portfolio process and helped with any questions I had.

My gpa: 4.0+
For AP courses and credits, contact schools and ask what they accept. Some accept scores of 3+, some only take 4s & 5s.
SAT (not required, but does help for scholarships if it is high): 1330
Scholarships I received (these aren't exact numbers) :
Parsons: ~ 23k/ yr
Pratt: ~27k/ yr
SAIC: ~71k/ 4 yrs

Bruh I didnt directly apply to Parsons ....
I first applied as an Liberal Arts student then internally transferred as a Parsons student because I knew they will likely accept me if I was already a New School student .....
and it worked .......
can you explain more?
@@monochromeky I applied to the new school as an liberal arts student then when it was time , I transferred to Parsons .... It was easier to be accepted into Parsons because I was already a New School student compared to a student applying externally ......
@ilke gunay I applied for Design and Technology and yes I did need to submit an portfolio ....
From what I can remember every Parsons student needs to send in a portfolio but of course call and ask to be sure ......

As a first gen and senior in HS, how do I start all this? I’m working on making a portfolio but I don’t really know how to sew or anything, and I don’t really have the money for fabrics. Will this be a problem?
That’s not a problem at all. Your portfolio doesn’t have to include any sewing related projects for you to declare as a fashion major (in terms of Parsons). Just make good work and choose the best to include in your portfolio!
I'm not a fashion major but a cool idea could maybe be making clothing out of duct tape or trash bags? Or natural items you can get easily?

Hello! Every college has different requirements, some require you to have sewing skills and others (like Parsons) don’t. You don’t need to know how to sew and make patterns to get into Parsons & you’ll be able to learn it there.
Is there a chance to get into Parsons Fashion Design program even without any knowledge of sewing and previous self-sewed clothes? Can we just send in sketches??? Please help!
Hey you can submit any type of art form in your portfolio and still choose fashion design as your major. You don't have to have any sewn pieces in your portfolio; however in my opinion, sketches alone won't be enough to get you into Parsons.

If I remember correctly, you don’t have to sew anything, but double check their requirements on their website to be sure

You dont need a SAT score to aaply.
Are there no scholarships or budget places available there? Or in FIT only contract.

Yes I made the clothes for my portfolio but each school is different and some don’t require any sewn items so it just depends
hi i’m not sure if you’ll see this but i want to major in fashion and also want to go to parsons but i haven’t gotten a chance to know how to sew since it’s expensive. would it be a problem that i don’t know ? i’m 17 abt to be a senior, and i only know drawing skills. and by chance if there’s someone who doesn’t know how to sew and wants to major in fashion do they teach you how to sew there, as a freshman/when u start attending? thank you! also amazing work !!
hi, yes they will teach you how to sew there almost like starting from the very beginning. There's many people here that don't know or aren't very good at sewing so you don't have to let that hold you back.

Start now it’s never too early! Keep up the ideas but they go nowhere if you don’t execute them
