For someone who actually lives in Sydney I'm thinking the size scale of the harbour is wrong. The area around the Opera House is very vast. It looked a tad too cramped up. Maybe this is why the Harbour Bridge is MIA because it's never going to work if the scales are all over the shop.

Many things are scaled wrong in this sim. I've seen miniature cars, parking lots, baseball fields and buildings. I'm sure the same is true for some of the islands, lakes and god knows what else.. But the overall world is apparently scaled properly. The time it takes to fly from one city to another should be the same as it would be in real life.

Also, you should check out the Icon A5 demo videos here on YT. They drive it like a jet ski on the water. Before this Flight Simulator, if you wanted anything even remotely close to this level of detail at water/ground level you would need to download dozens of gigabytes of hand-crafted, sometimes user-created content. The fact that this game is able to replicate the entire planet and fill in so many of it's details using AI is unbelievably impressive, and it's only going to improve over time as the devs refine the AI and handcraft even more cities/airports.
In the future, I expect more and more of this simulator will rely on data sent from the cloud, as internet speeds/connection quality improves over the years we'll start to see even more detail added in. I still can't believe how good it already is at launch.

I am a real world Icon A5 owner. A few items to correct in this video. 1) Take-off and land with water rudder up, or you will brake it. (You took off with it down.) 2) For water take-off, full flaps (you were at half.) And full flaps for water landing. 3) The Icon is actually somewhat underpowered. On take-off, I have never gotten above 5000 rpms, you had much more power. So a flaw in the sim. 4) Price for real world one is $375K, not $300K as you suggested. 5) It is not tremendously good at gliding (at least a real world one that is.) It has a 9 to 1 glide ratio. 6) When landing (water or land) use 3000 rpms all the way to the ground. (You were lower.) Thank you for a great video, I have been eager to see a flight in Icon in the new MS Simulator. Yours was the first I found. The only thing wrong that I could see from your video is the sim Icon seems to have a lot more power than the real world Icon. If someone wants a more realistic experience, throttle back to 5000 rpms for all take offs.

Actually there's a challenge landing thing which does score you, and where you have a leaderboard. So there's a game mode in it.

Level of detail is astonishing. I was JUST THERE before lockdown (nearly didn't make it back to the UK as flying through Singapore which was a high-risk country at the time). I spent a lot of time on that waterfront and it's just insanity to see it 1:1 in a flight sim. There's a very overpriced, but very lovely bar to sit in under the opera house that you can see in your beauty shots at 21:30... I can point out a bar.... In a flight sim...

Richard Bach author of Johnathan Livingston Seagull owned one of these and wrote a whole book about it. He flew his from Florida where it was built to the San Juan Islands in WA. In the book he talks about the plane being hard to learn to fly. He ran it into a power line crashed and almost died landing on a friends private strip. The real plane bounces around a lot more on water landing. Otherwise it was quite realistic.

Thanks for an interesting demo. Just did the same flight in FSX. Water was calm almost like glass and of course buildings and vegetation were sparse in comparison. No road traffic. Some ships but no disasters. I did note the Sydney Harbour Bridge in yours was not rendered like it should be, and a couple of building e.g. Centerpoint tower were missing. Minor points really. Nevertheless I'd upgrade if my computer can handle it. Cheers.

Sydney local here.... Hope they fix the city buildings before release, it doesn't look like Sydney. Even Sydney Tower, the most prominent building is missing. And the Sydney Harbour Bridge is missing completely. That would be like missing the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. Other very key landmarks in the harbour are missing too. I guess this will be in the release version, no way they could leave these key things out. Water and general landscape looks great though.
