I don't mind the little mess ups. 1. it shows she is actually mixing. 2. The song selection is very very good. 3. I feel like these young dj's are really doing a great job of playing old school house and disco!
Well, I wouldn't call her young DJ necessarily. She's well-known 32 year old solo artist, first of all. She released three albums (since 2009) and had few hits. And was member of Dead Disco before that. And I'm sure she (as UK artist) is very aware of UK dance culture of 90s and 2000s. Probably she's DJ-ing only occasionally. And mess-ups are not a big deal, I agree. Those who really DJ-ing, mess up.
One thing I like about mixmag - the damn fine sets that go down. On the other hand, the crowds are SHIT far too often, at least in the ones I've watched. Put your god damn phone away, and enjoy the moment.
I've kept coming back to this set for three years now (incidentally going through the perhaps most turbulent period of my life - so it's become one of my "safe spaces"). Great track selection and good, positive vibes. Can't help but get uplifted by this! Performance from the top of the "CNN Building" in Hollywood, L.A.

I've listened to this set a few times, but never appreciated how much the deep prog sounds pervade this set with the subtle mixing , its such fun mix! So rare to hear this sound with vocals too... reminds me of a disco version of early Norman Cook ^^

its about the music the groove, the skill ofnthe deejay and the mood u create.. thats deejaying.. thats what people come to see theybcome to see A deejay who knows how to get the crowd in a mood to groove as one people.... no matter ur color or age or gender.. just GET DOWN!! if i as a deejay can get that then i have done my job... its not about noveltys or whatever.. its about the groove u make and the vibe and the mood as a deejay u control the crowd. the mood and the groove u can either mess that up or make it hot! its up to you... so u better know what ur doing..
As I felt my spirit lifting at the 24:00 mark of this mix, I was really shocked to see that this was recorded from the penthouse of The CNN building in Hollywood!! Because I see the brown building I work in, 6464 Sunset, right over her shoulder!!! I'm like AHHH! I'm just a block away while their boogyin down over there!!! LOL!!!

The way she scrolled that poor jog wheel, I suspect she picked it from a dj-mix, using vinyl mode. Scrolling that much is not possible within one song, and the way she used filter when there's still the word ''Dance'' shouting out while she's doing that... I'm old enough to have bought that track new once, and there's no such word what I can remember, and it sounds very much like the original. Sandy Martin - People from Ibiza. In that case, she's only 14-15 sec in with the starting cue, just when the bass line is coming in. No need to scroll that much for that. To find a track in your collection, doesn't take more time than it takes to tap in the first letters of the artist, so that's no excuse. ...unless she so unprofessional so she's not using Rekordbox for her music. If so, and not knowing her music... inexcusable. If she knew she potentially were about to run out of time, just set a loop. Knowing your gear. The Nexus had been out for 3 years when this happened, and was the club standard, still is in many many places. As a plain working, not famous, but busy, DJ, a lot of what I hear in this set is not OK or excusable, unfortunately.

@@wcam1 In all aspects, if you're gonna be on a show like this, you need to come prepared. The song selection is good, nothing special, and should certainly be mixed on a level or two higher than what the average DJ Joe does every week of the year. I'm just having my first day off after 20 gigs in 19 days and i set a standard higher than that for myself on every gig, and I'm not a famous star, just a working class pro DJ. And yes, of course, as a Pro DJ I probably listen in a different way than the average listener, and my comments will reflect that. As this was almost 5 years ago, I think she'd agree with me and I'm sure she's improved a lot since this set was recorded, technically and the way she chose her music for the transitions to be perfect. I'm really happy that DJ's her age are digging in to the history of music and dare to mix it up with current tracks. I also like that she dare to keep the set on the underground side and let the deep bass lines be the profile of her set.

thats deejaying.. thats what people come to see theybcome to see A deejay who knows how to get the crowd in a mood to groove as one people.... no matter ur color or age or gender.. just GET DOWN!! if i as a deejay can get that then i have done my job... its not about noveltys or whatever..
its about the groove u make and the vibe and the mood as a deejay u control the crowd. the mood and the groove u can either mess that up or make it hot! its up to you... so u better know what ur doing..

XYZ, pretty sure it was a request from the audience. She asked them to get it and then couldn't find it.
The way she scrolled that poor jog wheel, I suspect she picked it from a dj-mix, using vinyl mode. Scrolling that much is not possible within one song, and the way she used filter when there's still the word ''Dance'' shouting out while she's doing that... I'm old enough to have bought that track new once, and there's no such word what I can remember, and it sounds very much like the original. Sandy Martin - People from Ibiza. In that case, she's only 14-15 sec in with the starting cue, just when the bass line is coming in. No need to scroll that much for that. To find a track in your collection, doesn't take more time than it takes to tap in the first letters of the artist, so that's no excuse. ...unless she so unprofessional so she's not using Rekordbox for her music. If so, and not knowing her music... inexcusable. If she knew she potentially were about to run out of time, just set a loop. Knowing your gear. The Nexus had been out for 3 years when this happened, and was the club standard, still is in many many places. As a plain working, not famous, but busy, DJ, a lot of what I hear in this set is not OK or excusable, unfortunately.
@@dj-peterofficial2753 what are you talking about man? The majority absolutely love it. Nobody cares about little nuances we don't even hear. She's making people happy. Her selection of music is fabulous.
@@wcam1 In all aspects, if you're gonna be on a show like this, you need to come prepared. The song selection is good, nothing special, and should certainly be mixed on a level or two higher than what the average DJ Joe does every week of the year. I'm just having my first day off after 20 gigs in 19 days and i set a standard higher than that for myself on every gig, and I'm not a famous star, just a working class pro DJ. And yes, of course, as a Pro DJ I probably listen in a different way than the average listener, and my comments will reflect that. As this was almost 5 years ago, I think she'd agree with me and I'm sure she's improved a lot since this set was recorded, technically and the way she chose her music for the transitions to be perfect. I'm really happy that DJ's her age are digging in to the history of music and dare to mix it up with current tracks. I also like that she dare to keep the set on the underground side and let the deep bass lines be the profile of her set.
Anyone know how to actually go to one of these events? Seems low key.
