My partner and I are thinking about staying here for 8 nights in May/June. We're looking at the self catering option. Would you be able give an honest opinion regarding the cost of food/drink etc from the snack bar, restaurant, supermarkets and maybe local tavernas? I'd be extremely grateful as I'm getting nowhere on Trip Advisor Last thing I want is to get over there and be shafted as I'm on a budget. Also, do you have any idea how much getting from the airport to the hotel costs roughly? Thanks in advance Angela
pefkos itself is very good value for money and aslong as you stick to the draft beer it can be very cheap drinking some cocktails seem good value but after a couple the euros keep mounting.We found some really cheap but pleasant bars up the main street next to the pandora shop and at the far end of the town if you watch my walk and talk video i do mention some does and donts and weres and nots.The matina peoples bar can be a little pricey not the beer though i think its cos of the convience and they seem to offer more choice than the run of the mill bars eating out can be good value but like i say in my vid you get what you pay for.Here is a short price list. mythos: 3to 3.60 euros pint alfa:2.40to 3.00 euros pint cocktails: 5.60to 11.50 euros not including happy hours. wine:2.00to 5.00 per table glass. shots:what ever they feel like charging at the time be vigalent of the greek free shot. two coures meal for two 20to 50 euros in enigma or nestalgia two most expensive places in pefkos but well worth the visit. take away meals for two 8to20 euros best pizza place meal for two with a couple of beers 30 euros supermarket prices good value but more expensive than the uk for basic goods exports are exstortionate it is cheaper to eat out for main meals. taxis price list also on my walk and talk video. airport tranceport sorry dont know but it can be expensive i have been told the best way is to make plans from uk. car hire 1 day 35 euros i recommend the small car hire place next to matina if its still there. Ahh cheers Christopher! After a couple of views of the hotel video you took, we decided we weren't going to take the risk. Think it was the 'chav central' comments that put us right off aswell as the overall look of the place. We're now staying in a villa just outside Lindos. I'm expecting it's going to cost more than Pefkos though but I suppose it'll be worth it. The budget's blown to hell now haha! Matina wasn't our first choice, we'd originally planned to stay on the other side of the island. After doing some research, it turned out the apartment complex was next to a power plant, pumping out black shit everyday, planes flying over your head every 15 minutes, the beach was non existant and there was about 6 tavernas to choose from. Avoid Sunlight Studios in Theologas at all costs. Think you'd probably describe it as 'piss poor'.
+Sweetestkitty Excuse me but it is certainly not chav central at all! I'm going to that hotel for the 3rd year in a row and it is absolutely fantastic! And I wouldn't have just listened to one person because I'm sure thousands of others would disagree. It's an amazing hotel which is far from a chav central. Taking the piss here.
the restaurants and bars are close to most hotels and apartments in pefkos the main reason I would avoid the matina is everything is directed to the large wedding parties who seem to take over everything also if you have children as the management of the matina did not see anything wrong with hooligan like behaviour day and night. ps just read the TripAdvisor for 2014
