BIG problems with the LS Turbo 914! It started as an oil change.....

  • What started out as a simple oil change, escalated into a complete teardown.
So there's this legend tale in the 914 world of a guy that "it started with a throttle cable replacement and ended up with a car in a pile of pieces which were finally sold". I think I survived that the first time around on this car, so we'll see if it makes it for round 2! Google "Dirk Wright Disease" I hope I don't become legendary...
The good news is that I'll be able to make changes that will suite the Boosted appliance better. So stay tuned for future upgrades!

Thanks, We're going with a full on rebuild. Should have the parts back from the machine shop this week.

Those look to be the washers on either side of the rocker pivots, Which are know to be a problem.
The washed cylinder is probably a leaking injector. LS engines have dry intakes unless there is a hose connected improperly (had a co-worker connect the washer hose to the intake on one, I got a good laugh from that). I hope you get this sorted soon, I have been following for awhile and think it is a cool project.

This has a shaft rocker arm set from T&D. But those could have been in there for a while and I shook them loose with all my skillful driving. LOL

Why don't you just Dingle ball the cylinders? Summit makes 4032 pistons and icon told me they make them for them there around $325 icon rates there 4032 for around 800 horsepower.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll check it out. Yeah, I'm not sure it needs or can even take a .020 overbore. I'm reading that .010 is the max for those blocks.

Thanks for posting these! Glad to see you're getting to build the motor you wished you'd had. Looking forward to seeing it come together. Are you posting your build progress at 914world.com too? Lots of V8 guys there too.
