And we documented the process to show you what this is like, as well as answer any questions you might have on the process or IEM molds in general. Many thanks to Gianni DiGiacomo from Hammer and Anvil Hearing in Colorado. If you are interested in this process, be sure to contact him:

Replay!! Great video of what to expect!!
This turned out so great! Thanks again for sharing the experience and combining our efforts and expertise 💕 😎
Thanks again for doing this man! I appreciate it 🤘🤘
Thanks so much for taking the time. Very very helpful.
Thanks for watching!
Awesome video Scott, love the content. Great perspective on the process and interviews, appreciate the work.
Thank you Shaun! I appreciate it
Thank you Scott!
Thanks Scott 🤘
This channel rules, I love how in-depth you get into the nerdy gear side of things! I recently started using IEMs with a band and I’ve been considering the jump to custom molds cause I am fortunate to afford it. Mainly felt ridiculous for wanting them and felt like I should tough through the ones I have, but man its annoying how often they fall out!
Thanks! And yeah, the custom molds are the way to go if you can afford them. They are 100% worth it imo 🤘
Yet another great video…. Glad to see the subs coming up
Thanks man! I had the goal to get to 20k by the end of the year. Really stoked to have made it 🤘
Thats what she said. luv it
😊😊
Great video!
Thank you 😊
Cool video!🤘
Thanks! 🤘
Very good advises
I do recommend cheap gear and pro level gear on this channel. Some people are searching for a good budget system, other people are looking to spend money on a high end system. There’s a target audience for both
@@ScottUhlMusicyes sure even myself purchased couple but as your colleague mentioned was just volume. I am trying now the ones much expensive like KIWI Orquestra I don’t play outside my studio. I am planning to order the wavs or ALCLAIR 4 to 6 drives
I used only one in ear for a few years. Little did I know that I was damaging my ears. To have the same apparent volume as the external sound, we need to increase the in ear monitor volume a lot. Sometimes I even had pain when playing in very noisy environments.
Then someone alerted me to the fact that I was destroying my ears by using only one monitor. since then i always use both monitors on both ears. No more pain, and with the right mix it sounds great. the problem is that I can't hear the audience anymore. Sometimes I connect an extra Microphone to get the room sound and add it to my in ears mix. I have also tried some earphones that let the external sound in, but their quality isn't that great, and they keep falling.
I wouldn't recommend using only one earphone..
Yup, 2 is definitely important!
The binary gooo feels so weird in your ears when you get it done!!!!
But!....
I highly recommend at least getting custom "musician" earplugs if you can. They are phenomenal!! While they are not in ear monitors, if you use floor monitors like a Neanderthal, they can save your hearing.
I haven’t heard of those, I’ll check them out!
I am checking out your awesome IEM videos. A while back, I had done some homemade ghetto IEM's with some (at the time) really nice Shure e4c earbuds. In addition to some other questions, what IEM are you using? It looks like one of CCA's IEMs, but I am not sure if those are just demo models for the videos. I want to get new IEMs either way, since one of my channels on the old e4c needs to be repaired and there is no ability to do so without re-soldering the wires into the left bud. I am not sure what the diminishing returns level are for the IEM buds. Some users say that $1000.00 for the buds is the line, others say the cutoff is about $500.00 (just for the buds not including custom molds), and for others it seems to be $200.00 to $300.00. I have been looking at the Aful P5 (for $219.00 on Amazon) and the newly released Moondrop Blessing 3 IEMs for $319.00.
I will invest in a better wired or wireless system soon, but for right now, to get my feet wet, I have the Rolls Headphone amp with a mic stand and a Roland Elite Core Body Pack. Links below. Are these serviceable with nice ear buds, for the time being, until I decide on either one of the $1000.00 Shure or Sennheiser setup?

Custom molds in my opinion give you the best sound because it fits directly in your ear. CCA are the backup ones that I use, but my main ones are Westone EAS 30s and I love them! And I think your setup would be fine to start for sure!
At marker 6:33 where you show them in your ear. Those CCAs are sticking out much further than they are designed. I would think it would be easy to knock them out. Also if you have short hair it would look odd. Wondering if there is a way to have those type of IEMs to go further in the mold so they are closer to your ear?
Yeah that’s part of the design of the CCA ones. Other ones won’t do that
Hi Scott, awesome video. A quick question: The Shure Mic SM7B that you are using in the studio to record sound for this video, is it a USB Mic? Are you using some kind of USB to XLR connector with it? Can you share the info of the type of the interface being used? Thank you!!
The SM7B is not USB. It’s xlr and you should get something like a cloud lifter to bump the output because it’s very quiet without it. It’s going into my Apollo twin audio interface 👍
If you buy new headphones, can you transfer the moulds? Can you buy a second set from the original mould as spares?
If you get molds that detach, then yes you can move them from earbud set to earbud set. My Westones I currently have are an all-in-one so I cannot do that. But the molds we did in this video we are able to put them on any earbud we want.
Being that you featured them on the video, what are your thoughts on the CCA C16?
I’m a fan of the two CCA ears that I got. I haven’t tried those, but I like what CCA is doing. Over 5 drivers seems like overkill for me personally. 3 is usually enough imo. But maybe I’ll try them one day and do a video on them
I have spent so much money tying to not spend much money. I wish I had found all these videos earlier. Would have saved me a ton of mistakes.
was surprised that they didn't give you a proper bite block..
Funny you mention it, because I went back for another set of IEMs and I did for that one and interviewed him again: In-Ear Monitors w/AMBIENT MICS - In Earz "HEAR EVERYTHING LIVE" System

Hello friend, excellent video and explanation, what product do you use for the headphone molds. thank you
Thanks! And I don’t remember what it’s called, but I know Gianni knows
So how good of sound are these with sennheiser IEM 300 am thinking of getting them as I sing professionally.
Custom molds make any IEM earbuds sound better. Period 🤘
@@ScottUhlMusic ok thanks for letting me know
Hey Scott, what all-in-ones do you use?
I use the Westone EAS 30s
@@ScottUhlMusic right on. I just got fitted for custom earplugs at work and figured it's a good time to upgrade.
No teeth block?
Funny that you mention it. I went back for another one and Gianni mentioned this: In-Ear Monitors w/AMBIENT MICS - In Earz "HEAR EVERYTHING LIVE" System

Scott, your bud there did your mold impressions, but then where did you send them off to for the actual molded tips? Did I see that your wife was using them with the CCA C12?
Yup, with the C12, and Gianni actually sent them off to get the molds done. You send them to whoever is going to create the iems 👍
