Steve Winwood can play any instrument put into his hands. He walked into his producer's office once and laid a take canister on his desk and told him, "That's my next album." His producer was dismayed and shocked because he had not hired any studio musicians or rented studio time. Steve played and recorded every instrument on the album. And did the mixing himself. The album is called Arc of a Diver.
Steve Winwood has been around since the '60s. It's amazing how he can change with the times. This song is VERY '80's and more poppy than his classic music from the old days. Low Sparks of High Heeled Boys and Dear Mr. Fantasy are fantastic songs from when he was in the band Traffic. Must listen to both. I always thought he was just a piano player, but I watched a video recently of him with Eric Clapton, and Winwood was jamming on the guitar. Quite impressive. This guy is definitely a phenomenal talent. He was like 16 when he sang for the Spencer Davis group.
I was wondering when you would notice Chaka Khan, so when you didn't at first...and then you did see that it was Chaka! I loved your reaction ! Steve Winwood is a GENIUS! sooo is Chaka too!!!!
Steve Winwood making incredible music since the 1960's with; Spencer Davis, Traffic, Blind Faith and of course as a solo artist. JJ, you can drown in this man's catalog and your reactions to any of those would be enlightening.
Jamel: check out Steve's daughter Lily singing a slow beautiful version of his Higher Love song with him doing backup on the Chorus, also fantastic!!! Cheers!
Steve’s handlers had him look all city slicker for marketability, but he actually is a back to the country type guy. Back in the day, his band Traffic had an old farmhouse out in the boonies of England with the living room set up with their instruments and got inspiration from living the mellow “nature boy “ life.
He still lives rurally, plays the organ at the local church and records music in his barn. I recently mistook him for a farmer at an event with his wife, as he was sat quietly in a tweed jacket in the corner. Lovely man. Gimme Some Lovin' - Steve is so young in this but his voice...wow! It's from the 60's and you'll love it Jamel! It's my 67th birthday today and if you play it I'll get the best present!
Happy Birthday to you🍰
@@carolyn8073 Thank you! A quiet one with covid but there's always next year :-)
Gimme Some Lovin’ when he was with the Spencer Davis Group. He’s been around for decades!
Started @ 16 years old :)
“While You Chance” & “Valerie” and when he was a wee lad with the Spencer Davis Group, “Gimme Some Lovin’”
Hendrix said he was only nervous by a few... Stevie was one. Ty for this I hope everyone find this jam and has a beautiful day
Steve Winwood can sing, dance, play instruments and is a great artist....
Do "The Finer Things" from Steve Winwood. Keep it up Brotha 👌👌👌
Bless you for playing this, haven’t heard it in years totally forgot background was Chaka Kahn. Much love ❤️
You've heard nothing yet till you hear his song valerie.
And then had it stuck in your head for a straight week. 😂
There's a version of him singing Can't find my way home with just an acoustic guitar .... Awesome
I bet it is!😀
I think thats Eric Clapton. One of the all time best versions of this song. Done not too long ago.
An incredible song, Chaka Kahn is the whipped cream & cherry on top.
steve winwood,,,,chaka khan,,,,ahhhhhhh yes the good ole days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jamel: check out Steve's daughter Lily singing a slow beautiful version of his Higher Love song with him doing backup on the Chorus, also fantastic!!! Cheers!
She was wonderful. Yes, needs to be checked out.
Lovely man. His latest Covid music upload is about life springing forth from the soil czcams.com/video/vpU01KQIUJM/video.html
@@fredackrill, Thanks for offering that up ! Very cool song. It bookends well with my first listen to Steve, when I was 13. My friend’s older sister found us listening to 60s Pop songs and showed us albums by Cream and Hendrix, then put on the song “John Barleycorn Must Die”. Been a big fan ever since - had 4 albums of Traffic in my collection during high school. Finally had a chance to see his live show in 2017 - so impressive !
what a wonderful reaction to such a wonderful song!
