  • Ironman Nice poses some unique challenges nutrition wise. I decided to put together a little video about the process I used to dial mine in for race day.

is it smart to even use ketones before you have done the more glycolytic efforts...? Isnt it blocking the oxidation of carbohydrates? at least thats the working theory from few studies where there is no improvements in shorter tt's? hmm...

Im not really sure what you are referring to, the 5g that I'll consume 3 hours before the race starts with my breakfast? Or the next dose that I'll take on the short descent before the final 10k climb. The first dose will be well out of my system by the time I finish warming up, the dose I take on the first descent doesn't instantly go to the blood stream. It has to go through a gut that's been continuously filled with sugar water with blood being shunted away from it, so absorption is slower than it would be at rest...when most of the studies you are referring to administered the dose. The plan will be to have it mostly through the gut and just starting to elevate the blood levels by the time I get to the top of the 10k climb.
