He did an "It Ain't Me" cover with them some years back. Would be nice if you checked it out if you hadn't already. He's really got a wonderful soft voice.

I loooove your reaction at 5:30 like when something is sooo good that it hurts you deep in your soul in the right way. It's pure joy to see you express your passion for music.

One of the things that made this rendition stick out to me was how very gentle and smooth they were with their tones in the beginning. Then they ramped it up for a bit, then brought us back down. It's amazing how many ways you can hear the same song and still be able to appreciate each one. Same way when people compare Home Free, Voice Play, and Pentatonix. They're all tremendous talents in their own right. And just because I like one group better because it's just my preference, doesn't mean that I can't absolutely love what the other groups are doing too. What a great reaction from you as always. Thank you! ❤

This grandma loves your reaction, yes I remember the original as a young girl by the Righteous Brothers, however this version does it for me I believe it’s the entire group, particularly John’s voice singing I need your love” 😀the higher notes this version is on repeat, & repeat all day long

So many people cover this song and I'm frequently disappointed. This version was awesome.

John's voice is perfect for this song. I think the guitar in the original made it hard to compare with a true acapella. They are just so different. I loved Johns voice for this much more than Austin, as talented as Austin is, as he to me paid tribute more to the integrity of the original with the ethereal quality of his voice. You need to react to it ain't me that John did with voiceplay. It's amazing and John goes even higher. Great reaction

Yo, there’s gonna be ANOTHER VoicePlay video problem this week? Unsure exactly when, but it’s SOOOO good. I think you’ll love their ft artist. Hands down should join the group. 👀👀 also killer bass line in it.
And on patreon they announced they’d be posting TWICE a month!!!! Which is why this next video is SO soon. But that just makes me 10x more excited.

I'm a huge HF fan (going to my 6th concert in December), but John's voice and this arrangement just take it for me.

I've loved John Pinto, Jr. since the first time I heard him with VoicePlay in "It Ain't Me" which is one of my favorite VP songs. Honestly my first thought when I heard Earl left VP was that it would be amazing if John joined the group. I am not overly fond of singers in the "higher ranges"; I usually find myself wincing but never with John. His voice is so light & airy; never screechy. Geoff did an incredible job with the arrangement for this song as well. I must also say that Layne's beatboxing in the end section was out of this world and it was nice to hear him singing for a change. Bit of a bummer that Eli had no "solo" but that's the way it sometimes works in a group especially with a guest singer. By the way The Righteous Brothers are not the original singers of this song, they are just the most well known. The original song was written for a film titled "Unchained" and Todd Duncan sang the vocals for the film soundtrack. (RB were 1965).

If that can help with the voice "classification", conventional voice classification will have, going up, bass, baritone and tenor for men's, and alto, mezzo and soprano for women's. For a man going into the alto range, one might say counter tenor, and for a women going down to tenor range, one could call her a counter alto. There is a lot of debate on the actual value of putting a tag on anyone's voice and especially labeling it in tandem with a gender. In actuality, it's mostly useful to sort voices in an ensemble and not describe a voice by itself. Hope it helps.

The original that I remember was in 1955, sung by Al Hibbler, a baritone.

Stolen definitions from google: Soprano - A high female (or boy's) voice.
Alto - A low female (or boy's) voice.
Tenor - A high (adult) male voice.

For me Dave, he is a contralto, i dont know if I'm correct but he has rare voice range, if compared to Earl, Earl was a tenor still even he sound to a boiling kettle and didn't sound like a woman.

Not sure which version I like better. I'm old enough to remember the Righteous Brothers version when it originally came out (I'm an old lady). Then I heard Austin Brown do it and thought he did a great cover. Of course Voice Play didn't disappoint, either.
