CLINT EASTWOOD BY @GORILLAZ IS MADE FROM KEYBOARD PRESET... @damonalbarn revealed on The @ZaneLowe Interview Series podcast. Listen on @Apple Podcasts. #Podcast #Gorillaz #Blur
I've guested on a ton of albums playing bass and programming drums for electronic artists, many of whom were big names. When I got my Mac pro, several of my beats and riffs were built into the recording studio software. Apple had sold me my own beats. I couldn't sue because the artists had licensed the beats successfully. I got paid my royalty but damn I could've sold them ten thousand more original beats
@@BrianNatonski-wt3mvyou wouldn’t have been able to sell them for more, because a song involves more than just a beat or riff. Those songs made it big because of the lyrics, song structure, mood, and also the band itself they did the hard work of social networking and building a fan base.

That’s not even when MTV was young. Young MTV had the news with Kurt Loder and Gideon Yago, total request live with Carson Daily and endless Spring break with Carmen Electra. Lmao. Y’all so young and I love it! 😊
The good ol days
@melaninmonroe007 wrong early/young MTV was downtown julie brown on MTV Club.. 1987.. but she wasn't that great.. l wish the guy before her had stayed..
funny thing abt MTV (its first song) and mantra was 'video killed the radio star' yet many/most people Listened to it, (just like radio..) hah.
Wow, such great musicianship. Such creativity & skill involved. Amazing composition. . .
No matter how many times this comes across my feed, it will never cease to blow my mind a little bit.
There's also an old obscure synth that has a 4 beat long part of Voodoo People by the Prodigy as a ready synth riff, which is years older than the band 😁
I laughed my ass off with a buddy when we discovered it in some random attic. Didn't think to check the type though.
@VikingTeddy man I love this kinda shit. Just shows how talented they are that they can make these absolute bangers out of some obscure samba beat we ignored when we were kids 😅
I have so much respect for DEL. DEL The Funkee Homosapien who did that verse is one of the best rappers of all-time. He needs WAY more respect. His crew HIEROGLYPHICS ARE the best rap group not named Wu-Tang Clan. Check out their 3rd Eye Vision album - imo the best start to finish NO FILLER rap album OF ALL TIME. Plus Del's solo albums "No need for alarm", "Deltron 3030" and "Both sides of the brain".
So many 80s tunes bass lines were ripped straight out of toy Casio keyboards.
Sleng Teng
That laugh was perfectly timed
My grandparents had one of these back in the early 80's! When Gorillas released Clint Eastwood, I knew exactly where the music came from.
fake story
There was a rectangular silver and black thing that you could run your finger up and down and sounded like bells. Your attempt at being a troll is a failer. Probably your life too.... oops I said it!@@raulaureliom
owning an omnichord isn't even impressive@@raulaureliom

@@Habeev07thanks for the info. That’s something I’ve not heard before, so I’ll be looking it up when I smoke later. 🥰 Have a good night!
My childhood is in shambles lmfao
Why lol
I mean this is funny for sure, but while "Clint Eastwood" is still a jam, I doubt any of us are going to be rocking out to an unadorned "Suzuki Omnichord - rock 1 on D# minor" any time soon lol
I've always admired Damon alburn for this reason. He can find music out of the smallest things
Yeah, he's like the mad scientist of music
This is why this guy is so talented, demon days still my favourite album ever, so so good
This preset used to be heard wafting out of music stores in shopping malls all across America
I remember buying a Microkorg and finding out most of Enter Shikaris first album was built off the presets
woah i gotta check this out
Oh yeah? All I know is that one song of there's with the long title about being at a rave or something
Enter Shikari is something else, such a cool band
and also Attack Attack, and also Asking Alexandria. All used the preset modes on the mirco, hella sick
Damn i have a microkorg , i should check that out
I grew up with one of those and the first time I heard that song my mind was blown. I have so many memories of tooling around with that thing.
That song will never go away.
I used to jam out to my grandma's keyboards presets/test songs they were gems.
Even his first laugh after the intro is on point
Has a little my morning jacket vibe too
But give creds to Del The Funky Homosapian for being that sick slick awesome 🙏
Del went on Vlad and said he regrets the verse because Gorillaz let other rappers rap on it live and he didnt like the mainstream exposure
@@jacobcaudill6357I hate that because nobody does it like Del. I have fond childhood memories of listening to Del the Funky Homosapian and playing Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3
I'm under each snare
@@Betlejuse420 he just didn't like the mainstream exposure he just a chill dude he is ice cubes cousin and wrote songs for cube but never wanted credit or fame. He didn't like that people at record stores wanted him to sign Gorillaz vinyl instead of his own. Both sides of the Brain, 11th hour, Wish my brother was here, and Deltron are all classics. Vlad interviews bring the worst out of People. Alot of people dont realize underground artists avoid fame by releasing under different names, wearing masks, and keeping identity and face secret.
@@jacobcaudill6357 That's why I prefer underground music, I can relate to it. Wanting to get your message out there while staying pretty much anonymous is a respectable desire imho
Bro got paid $25 to make a preset that ended up being heard at majour concert venues and on radio stations around the world and nobody knows him. Feelsbad
No, feels good inc
Dudes a treasure and very underappreciated artist
Simple, yet effective!
Damn this brings me back to the high school days FR 💯💯💯👏👏👏
i was in juvie when this shit hit. but i was fucking with del hard before turning myself in. couldnt believe i was hearing him on the radio.
An absolute banger off a preset. Reminds me of my keyboard I had when I was a kid. I couldn’t afford lessons and didn’t have a book to read about piano so I just played the demo song and would pretend to play it. Thank you, Casio
i think everyone did that at one point or another ahha.
I am still listening to it
When you hear a righteous groove like that, you just know...
Still can't get over the fact that Damon, the 90s indie-rock band front man, was so musically eclectic/crestive. I could have seen Blur go on to be one of those all-time legendary rock bands performing into the present day. Had no idea he was into Hip Hop, and other genres,to go on and create great music with the idea to put an animated band in front of it.
I have an old Yamaha keyboard that I use as a midi input. One day I was just about to start cooking up when I accidentally pressed the play button on the keyboard and it started playing one of the lesson songs. The keyboard's volume was all the way down but it was sending midi to a channel with a drum pad loaded with sounds and I ended up with the most random but organized rhythm. It made me so happy!
That laugh was perfect from the interviewer
Love that song and video
I love how he unintentionally matched his laugh to the one in the actual song
Edit: I got the song wrong, the laugh is on a different song that in my head is the same as this one.
That’s not even the same song bruh
@@LtLengthfr lol came here to say the same thing 😅
@@LtLength 🤓
@@Snuzzi 😦
@@LtLength no not that laugh, the dude goes "hoo hoo hoo hoo hooooo" at the beginning, relisten to clint eastwood. that's what he's talking about
Every time I hear the lyrics to the rap in the song I always start out saying "finally someone let me out of my cage" and then I immediately go into the Fresh Prince Bel-Air's "on the playground is where I spent most of my days" they go together seamlessly😅😅😅
😂😂
Fuck you, I will now never not hear this when I listen to this song 😂
Ohhh I'm the kinda guy who gets up to no good. Started making trouble in my neighborhood. Got in one little fiiiight and my mom got scared and said yuh movin' with your auntie and uncle in bel air, ooooh I'm a wanderer. Yesss I'm a wanderer. I get around around around around around.
I hate you so much rn
Exactly.
Thats why it has that dirty old speaker sound love it
I love tbis song 😆
Now I want a full version of the song where Damon does all of Del's lines
His laugh was on beat 😂😂
To this day I still haven't seen how the band looks. I was born in 93' 😅.
That laugh was so on point 😂👌🎶
This is crazier than when I found out there was no secret ingredient in Mr. Pings Secret Ingredient Soup.
nd just like Mr. Ping's soup, it's not about the ingredients, it's about how you put them together! 😄😁🥣
