- Have you ever wanted to make VFX that looks so cool, that you're bound to get hired by big-time Hollywood directors? Or maybe just so cool that you can impress your friends and family? If you're a beginner, using Adobe After Effects to start creating VFX can be a challenge when there are so many cool things to do and try out! Today we're going over the basics of After Effects visual effects with a technique that has lasted me over the course of my career as a VFX Artist and motion designer. Today we're diving into the Teleportation effect! It's an effect that gets used time and time again in countless Hollywood movies, short films, and music videos! It might be worth noting that using vfx elements will save you a bunch of time, but even if you don't have a huge budget, don't worry because there's plenty online for free! We'll be going over the UI of After Effects, shooting a VFX scene properly, what to do when things go wrong, how to import presets, and various VFX elements that range from super affordable to mad expensive so you can be the judge. Not vfx but an in-depth tutorial on working with 3d cameras in ae and the kind of things we could do with them would be cool to see. Also maybe more reactions/explanations to MVs with cool techniques.

It's an amazing Tutorial, even tho I had some issues it came out pretty decent. However i totally got lost on the last steps which for basic VFX weren't necessary tho :)

do you know some tutorial on how to create effects on hair while the hair is moving and the light is from the root to the tip while the hair is moving? i cant do this with motion path or light emitter because it cannot be key once you have a trail or motion path please help
Do you think it's a bad idea to start directly learning After Effects VFX first instead of photoshop or video editing? I'm finding I like VFX better than the other stuff
Nah it's not a bad idea at all! I found making VFX videos a fun way to learn a bunch of skills fast and have a finished product by the end of it. This made it easier to transition to other programs like photoshop and premiere as well. In fact my first videos ever were short After Effects vfx videos like the ones you'll find tutorials for on this channel (gun shots, teleportation, light sabers, and fire in hand). Eventually I graduated to longer video editing when I built out stories around the vfx, or got hired to work on commercials. I also learned photoshop techniques when I wanted to market the videos with nice thumbnails and the cool thing about the Adobe suite is that the programs play well with eachother and borrow similar icons and ways of working in them.

Why don't u just used "Position Wiggle" effect rather that camera shake effect?
Lol. Already stuck at 4:53, WHICH layer do we need to duplicate?
And do we need a cut on the 2nd part? where you 'jump in'?
Already have 4 layers where you have just three. Guess this 'beginner vfx tut' is way too high for me.
In Premiere, clips 'lock in' to each other when you place them right after each other. As After Effects seems to love layers, how do you make sure these layers 'lock in' on each other. My adjustment layer is longer than the first clip and it's really annoying to match it with my clip layer.
