The song was written as a vehicle for environmental activism, with launching a fundraising effort on behalf of Brazil’s indigenous tribes. Infrastructure, farming, mining, logging-- is destroying the Amazon. These Amazonian wildfires are a human-made disaster, set by loggers and cattle ranchers who use a “slash and burn” method to clear land. Feeding off very dry conditions, some of those fires have spread out of control.
they happen naturally as well. they need to stop selling the land the jungle sits on.
If we lose the amazon earths eco sytem will die..
I’ll add that one indigenous little girl was burned alive by loggers down there. What is happening to those tribes is criminal.
My heart aches for all of the animals and wildlife whose habitat continues to be taken away by humans, always based on money or greed. Love this song.
If there's a metal band that makes you an environmentalist, it's Gojira.

And that “plastic bag in the sea” part is one of the heaviest fuckin parts of a song known to man 🤘🏼🤘🏼. Also Gojira legitimately made me a more eco aware person and I will always be grateful for that

It was a big issue with Brazil burning the rainforest for cattle farmers. Huge swathes of land. The Amazon is considered the air filter of the earth

@@yurisilva4887 lets be real. The earth is a system where all parts play into the balance. The Amazon contributes, as does the ocean, as do the Asian and African rain-forests. Reducing the Amazon places more stresses op the system, and tipping points do exist. It's not as black and white as you are making it out to be.
And that's before we evem think about the biodiversity angle.

They are responsible for more than 50% of the Earth's Oxygen, I am Brazilian man, I know that the Amazon is slowly dying and that is very bad. But it is a fact that the biggest responsible for the oxygen we breathe is the Algae of the oceans.

The Amazon doesn't produce oxygen for the entire world that's not how it works. To be clear I'm not saying to destroy it lol just saying, while it certainly contributes to the overall oxygen levels worldwide, those levels don't effect the entire world.

And yes, with the current government and its total disregard, we have set records for fires.
Last month, for example, was the equivalent of five cities with three millions habitants.
If not the best metal band currently, for sure a top 3 one.
As a brazillian myself, I can unfortunately write that Gojira pays more attention to this issue than the brazillian government itself.
Now "toxic garbage island" is a must!
Then, flying whales, l'enfant sauvage, vacuity, ouroboros. It's a long list of amazing music.

Just saw your House of The Rising Sun reaction - an interesting back story the band is actually British, they fell in love with American blues & jazz music when bands started touring in England, they were so into the sounds it became their biggest inspiration for the songs they wrote and composed. They especially love the Black American history and the sounds of the Louisiana bayou.

A lot of their songs are about stiff going on. They even donated a boat to that whale wars show, where they try to stop people illegally killing whales. You can see the Gojira boat on the show.

Check out some “bleed from within” they are an awesome Scottish band. Specifically “the end of all we know” great track for getting into metalcore.

@@Dry7123 Gojira was awesome but only played 8 songs, festival set. The stage setup, audio, bands, etc were all great. What sucked was the lines, whoever organized the show didn’t know what they were doing. 2 hour wait to get into the show, 1 hour wait for food. There was like 8 food trucks for 30,000 people

Some creepy yet good metal like cradle of filth (her ghost in the fog) and Dimmu Borgir (Progenies of the great apocalypse). Fleshgod apocalypse, the violation is also very good. But watch original vids no lyrics versions.
