Technical lines at Little Almscliffe with my NWSD Scattergun TRX-4 Comp Crawler

  • So lockdown is meaning we can only go out in pairs but fortunately someone asked me to join them for an early one at Little Almscliffe. The Holmes Hobbies Revolver Snubnose and Castle Sidewinder 4 brushless ESC combo gave everyone in earshot a bit of a headache but it was worth it. This is what I thought my TRX4 Sport should have been able to do, but with the comp setup it's just mad.
    It was slightly damp, 5c / 41f temps, mossy rocks but there were no excuses. I did fall off a lot, but I kept going and trying and pulled all the lines I wanted apart from two, one of which I'm not sure is even possible!
    I'll definitely be coming back here for a lot more rock crawling in the future!

    Those rocks looks like they grip a lot! We don't get these type of terrain in Québec/Canada. Cheers!

      Yeah, Yorkshire gritstone is very much like sandpaper. Was a wet and drab day too. I can highly recommend the Louise Rowdy tyres though, grip like hell on almost anything and do loose / muddy surfaces like champions

    Keep coming back to this video and chassis, would love to get one for mine and see how it compares to stock trx4. Nice rig and location this place not too far from me in Huddersfield

      Thanks! It’s one of my favourite places to go and do straight up crawling for hours on end. Definitely get yourself a scattergun, the geometry is way nicer than the standard trx4

      Forgot to mention I go there quite regularly, so maybe get in touch via Facebook and we can have a meet up covid allowing

    ".....gave everyone in earshot a bit of a headache..." I could hear the whine despite the soundtrack :-) Just another example of how great the Louise Rowdy tyres are. That was with 115mm hairbun donuts ? Didn't look to suffer when side hilling

    • @JustScalin
      @JustScalin  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah I left it in there but -26db! Me and the person I was with were chatting nonsense a lot so needed a music to cover it off.
      Those are 10.5cm donuts on vented tyres. Tyres are 50mm wide and the wheels are 26mm. I took the donuts and ruffled them up in my hands to expand them before fitting and they filled the casing nicely.
      The sidewalls do flex a lot but they never gave up or went off-line so not sure I’m bothered. Might not look great but they outperformed my dual-stage foams easily

      @@JustScalin Mine on the HPI Venture are 100mm inside chinese Hyrax copies. Will fit them in my Rowdy's when the stock foams give up.

      Cheers dude! Can’t wait to get this lockdown over so we can do a group outing. Even damp and cold the rocks gripped well

    So only the spring mod in the front? Not the back? And great video!!!!! Thanks🤘😎🤘

      Yep, for this video. I had some issues with breakovers so I've gone Servo-On-Axle as well as lowering the truck by 10mm and removing the springs. So I've got more articulation but a lower truck.

    Where did you get the chassis from ? I’m looking for a scattergun for my trx but can’t find a website that delivers to the uk 😅

      Direct from northwest scaler designs. You have to contact them because they have to raise a PayPal invoice due to the special shipping needed

    How do you keep it from bouncing on steep climbs? I'm having a lot of trouble tuning mine

    • @JustScalin
      @JustScalin  Před 3 lety +1

      A mix of high anti-squat but mostly suspension tuning. I’m doing a video on suspension soon so stay tuned.
      I run large bore shocks so have 25wt front and 20wt rear and just enough spring rate to suspend the truck.
      If you subscribe the tuning / theory video will be out in the next week or two
