  • This video is a narrated walking tour of the Iberostar Grand Parasio resort shot in late April, 2017. This resort is located in the Playa Parasio area of the Riviera Maya, in the Yucatan state of Mexico - just south of Cancun. I used a GoPro Hero4 camera mounted to a Feiyu gimbal.

Happy Anniversary! I hope you have a great trip.
If you are interested, I discovered a great blog about Iberostar Grand - iberostarrocks.com - that gave us a lot of info before our visit. The FAQ section was particularly helpful to us.

Great video!! was looking at the other Paraiso resorts on the property but this one tops it for sure. Can you tell me if the pools are heated? And can you walk on the beach to the other properties?

    • @perry509
      @perry509  Před 6 lety

      Hi Nina -
I'm not sure if they heat the pools, but my guess is that they would. Other All Inclusive properties that we have visited in the colder months (November & December for us) in the Riviera Maya area do heat their pools.
And yes, you can walk along the beach to the other properties in the Iberostar resort.
If you are a Facebook user, you might be interested in checking out a group called "Iberostar Grand Paraiso". The folks on that group would be able to answer your heated pool question...
We enjoyed our time at the Grand!

Thank you for your reply back. Do you know how long the walks are to get to the other resort. Don't know which order they are.

All 5 of the resorts are right next to each other. The resort that is closest to the Grand is the Iberostar Maya (it is actually tucked behind the Grand (away from the beach). There is beach access from all 5 properties. It is a very short walk (less than 5 minutes) to the Maya. Also, if you want to visit the other resorts and don't want to walk, there is a shuttle that will drive you to any of the other properties. Here is a map that I found online that may help you get the lay of the land: www.ib-board.com/ib_complex.jpg

Great tour. Do you have a favorite resort in Riveria Maya? We went to Iberostar about 12 years ago. We stayed at the Lindo. We have reservations at Excellence Riveria Cancun. How do you think they compare?

We love the Excellence and Secrets resorts in the Riviera Maya. We tried out the Iberostar Grand as a change of pace and frankly, we felt it did not measure up to the four other 'special for us' resorts that we have stayed at in the last couple of years. Our list of potential 'do-agains' include Excellence Riviera Cancun, Excellence Playa Mujeres, Secrets Maroma Beach and Secrets Akumal. I think you will love ERC if you value the experience in a way that is similar to what we are looking for: All Adult (we have raised our family and enjoy our time together as a couple with other vacationers who also value 'adult time'), great service (all of these properties including Iberostar pride themselves on their excellent service - and justifiably so), good food (and I do have to say that this is where Iberostar Grand is lacking - mostly due to the need to make reservations for dinner. Both the Excellence and Secrets properties do not require reservations - except for the hibachi table at their Asian restaurants). I don't like to plan meals ahead of time - we like to live in the moment and when we are on vacation and we are having too much fun in the afternoon hot tub visiting with other guests, we don't want to feel like we are going to miss out on continuing the fun in order to make our diner reservations.
Having said all of that, we will be returning to ERC, EPM and Secrets Maroma (we were just at Akumal last Fall). We had planned on a May trip to ERC this year, but an unfortunate accident will delay our vacation plans this year into the Fall.
If you are interested in viewing similar resort walking tours of ERC and EPM (and Secrets Akumal), do a search in CZcams for my name and you can get an idea of how the properties stack up.
I hope you have a great vacation at ERC. I don't think you will be disappointed!

Alan Perry I appreciate you taking the time to respond. I am looking forward to our visit to ERC this summer. We visited an Excellence property in DR, and loved it. I loved not having to go through the trouble of making reservations for dinner. I didn't realize Secrets did that as well. I hope you have a great time on your trip this fall. I will be sure to subscribe and check out your other videos. CHEERS!

This place seems nice. The weather seems so dreary. We are going right after memorial day. Will it look like this? I also know hurricane season starts around that time too?? Also, how was the food?

The weather in Mexico in the late Spring/early Summer has been hit and miss for us. On this trip, we didn't have the greatest weather. The beach was very windy during our stay at the Grand, so we spent most of our daytime at the pool. We didn't get much rain and I don't think the really stormy time of the year arrives until later in the Summer (August, and especially September and October are the height of the hurricane season).
The food was good - not outstanding but good. We ended up eating at the buffet most evenings because we did not plan our meals in advance. It pays to do research about each of the a la carte restaurants, select a time that you plan on eating and make reservations via email before you arrive at the resort. We tend to not plan ahead and we ended up not being able to get a reservation (they are very limited in the seating at prime time dinner times).
      Have a great trip!
