Yazid bin Muawiyaل was from Ummayad dynastyل, who brutally killed the grandsonsص(Imam Hussainص and his brothersص, sonsص, and friendsص) of Hazrat Mohammadص in Karbala and took Hazrat Mohammadص's granddaughtersص as captives and imprisoned themص.

Yazed was the name of an infamous and hated ruler in Muslim history. No muslim likes to name his child Yazed. He got killed Prophet's grandson(Imam Hussain) and his family. Imam Hussain was staying in a camp in the desert near River Euphrates with his family and Yazed's men stopped them from drinking water from the river. This story evokes that historical incident.
