Following the video, I made up directions. Corrections and better explanations welcome. Directions: Piece of fabric 20x34 cm
Fold in half. Stitch together, leaving 10 cm opening in center to later insert filter
Iron seam flat, and fold so insert is about 1/3 up on mask. Press.
Insert elastic at corners. Stitch sides
Fold in half again long sides together. Mark a triangle dart 3 cm up and 1 cm in. Cut it out.
Refold so edges of dart come together. Stitch dart, pivoting at corner. Clip dart.
Turn inside out. Press.
Reinforce stitching by sewing over top and bottom stitches.
Fold under top and pin. Fold bottom to make a pleat and pin.
Stitch folds down.
Cut threads. Press

I’ve just made one and it fits really snugly :) I’m in Australia and don’t buy 8mm elastic ( it was all I could get ) as it makes my ears fold forward ... too thick ..... in answer to the other questions , 7 1/2 “ elastic for women , seam allowance on first seam about 1cm . Top pleat has folds of about 2cm and bottom about 1.5 cm . I also added a 10 cm pipe cleaner to the nose and just top stitched it in.... this worked really well. Thanks so much to the original poster too :) now waiting on my eBay au filters to arrive :)

하나 test로 만들어서 하루 종일 써보니, 필터 넣는 구멍이 중앙이면 입술에 바로 닿는 위치라 장시간 쓰면 벌어지더라고요 , 그래서 나머지 마스크는 필터 구멍 위치를 턱쪽으로 약간 내렸어요. 그리고 필터 구멍 시접을 kissing되게 하지 않고, 0.5 cm 겹치게 해서 잘 안벌어지게 했어요. 고무줄은 빨고 나서 축율이 있어 줄어들어서, 아예 길게 만들고 귀에 맞춰서 묶고 있습니다. 5개 만들어서 필터 갈아끼면서 잘 쓰고 있습니다. 패턴 간단하고 만들기도 쉬워요 !! 추천해요!

Hello, I'm newbie at sewing and this was the very first thing I sewed. It was a good video and I could follow the steps almost completely. Only problem I had was at 3:05. It's not very clear which side of the mask you are holding, so I left this little cut out (fortunately, it didn't make any difference at the end). My mask turned out well! Thank you!

Spray 5% white vinegar and let it dry (smell will mostly go away). Someone else said to use citric acid (and water)....This lowers ph, makes it alkaline to repel germs. Maybe use coffee filter as another layer.
This is a good pattern using the v at the chin. Twist tie, coated floral wire, etc, can be easily put into the top of the mask and a top stitch along it to form shape to nose. Thank you.

Out of all the masks I have seen done on CZcams, yours is my favorite. Thank you very much.
We do not have the filter that you have in America. But about 8 layers of muslin (as a filter) is pretty good according to several peer reviewed papers I have read. Muslin is also washable. I will make your mask out of vinyl and spray with alcohol on outside but make multiple muslin filters for inside to switch out from day to day with washing in between. The looser the fabric weave on a mask the worse it is and it makes it useless.

How are you going to be able to breathe through a vinyl mask??
@@drea4195 You have control over how tight the mask is. But honestly, when you get to n95 and 100, your lungs must work hard if you are wearing those if they are fit with a strong seal.
@@MiddleEastMilli If you must breathe through the sides of the mask because the vinyl will not let air in, then you are defeating the purpose of having a mask.
Make a liner using HEPA microfilter vacuum bags. Re 8 layers of muslin and vinyl, you have to remember that people are wearing these for HOURS at a time. Both of those would be very uncomfortable. Confirmed by my 2 ER friends. Also, any metal in the nosepiece would be a BIG no-no for surgeons, radiologists, MRI depts. etc.

Please Help!! At @ :57 when the fabric is folded in half and noticed the same line is not in the middle it's a little bit down towards the bottom and there are no Dimensions at exactly where this should be position if anyone knows please tell me I'm in the middle of making the masks.

In my opinion this is the best design in the internet, its easy, its fast and very effective. In the end I added a "pipe cleaner" (which is easy to find here in Mexico) so that the fabric could cover around my nose. I used your other video to measure the size of my face, so I ended up using 34cm x 27cm (yeah, big face, mucho cachete xD). Thank you!

@@laurascarlata79 Yes I did just that, I left some space to be able to replace the pipe cleaner or to use 2 instead of one (it works better using 2, in my opinion)

One question , since oriental/korean people have smaller faces/heads... have you tried this on a man or on a large woman , or regular sized American... I would like to make this, it looks like something that would work, but American's tend to be a bit more fleshy /fat or broader in the face

I would love if this came with some written instructions on a website, with type of fabric, measurements etc.
And especially, do you insert something extra for filtering? (Viruses are extremely tiny and can get through most fabrics, so there should be some sort of filter insert, I think.)

Used 100%cotton any that you like as long it’s 100%cotton
For filters I would make several from paper towels and replace daily. I will cut my mask 13 1/2 inches by 8 inches, which will be approximately right. Each side elastic I will cut 7 1/2 inches in length. For men better cut 8 inch elastic.
You can use felt inside for a filter
Or you can use Pelon replace as you will
Need to make a few they need to be changed every time you wear them

I think it would be wish to overlap the pocket, so there is no gap and keeping the thickness two ply plus the filter
Make the slit on the side to put in and take out the piece of hepa filter cut from vacuum cleaner bag.

완성 완성했어요 ! 얼굴을 잘 가려주고 만들기 간단하고 너무 최고입니다. ! 근데 제가 재봉질이 초보라 바늘이 자꾸 부러져요. 특히 두꺼운 부분 박을때요. 어떤 바늘을 써야 하나요? 두꺼운 부분(천 여러겹 있는 부분 )박을때 바늘 안부러지는 팁 좀 알려주세요.
바늘을 14호 사용해보세요~ 너무 얇은 바늘은 부러질수 있어요. 그리고 저는 두꺼운 부분은 박을때는 속도를 조금 줄여서 박음질하거나 수동으로 박음질해요. 또는 시접을 안쪽에서 잘라주기도 합니다 ~^^

웃픈 후기 하나...저는 얼굴이 뜬다길래 어디가 뜨는지 도통 모르겠어서 자세히 보니까...밑부분이 뜰려면 얼굴이나 턱이 작아야 되는거더라구요...ㅇㅅㅇ 얼굴 커서 한개도 안뜸....하.....만든거 고치려고 꺼내고 스스로 무안....그래도 저번에 한장 시리즈에서 만든거를 이 버전으로 고치는 영상도 보너스 영상으로 해서 넣어주심 안될까요

There are child size patterns on youtube just search
the elastic bands can be adjusted for size...just tie a knot if needed.
