    Hi Ben,
    I think you're so used to tying the correct way that your demo doesn't show the incorrect way! You've tried really hard to do it wrong, but it's still correct - the tail still ends up "inboard".

    To belay or knot belay, that is the question. There are two schools of thought about that. 1) The big boat operators who make fast with figure eights and 2) The small boat operators who make fast with knots. The turn and figure eight underneath the knot will reduce the possibility of a jam up. A second figure eight under the knot will further reduce that risk. If the knot is NEEDED it will jam. Big boat professionals hate cleat hitches. When you eventually see a jam up, you will join group 1.
