Actually the first St Patrick's Day Parade was in NYC even though the holiday is Irish. Most of the marching bands in the parade in Dublin are American since high school marching bands aren't a European thing. Still very enjoyable to watch!
Martina Murray Yeah, I know. Not trying to take it away, but I noticed that a lot of the real Irish don't typically celebrate St. Patrick's day like this. America tends to make franchises out of holidays like Christmas, Halloween, etc. for better or worse.

the irish who came to America were real Irish too, .Those of Irish ancestry are Irish American.
