  • Here is an easy fix for a John Deere baler which is plugging up with Hay wrapping around the Rollers! This is a step by step video of what to look for and how to rectify the problem when experiencing this frustrating problem with your baler. For demonstration purposes we will be using a John Deere 566 round Baler as our test subject.

Best thing we ever did was trade our 566 off for a used 586. Got tired of choking up. Probably baled close to 1,000 bales with the 586 and never had to get out of the cab.
For those that might not know when 576 came they out they changed the pick up header. And my understanding of the only difference in 567 and the 568 is the size of the chains
    Anyway enjoyed your video

Yes those 586 are pretty solid balers. I think ones in my future👌👏👏 Cheers 🍻 from PSR

Ran a 530 as a kid. In long slough hay it would wrap around that roller when starting a bale. What a piss off. Spent lots of time under the tailgate. Cutting it off. Lol

LOL, yeah our 530's really like wrapping longer material around rollers! But those ole girls keep chugging along forever. Cheers 🍻 Wally.

I'm trying to think back to my jd 567. If I remember right that 567 had that wind guard free floating. I noticed you were setting that wind guard pretty high. If that guard is basically getting sucked up into your belts. I wonder if that may be your problem. would make sense. better part of the last decade we haven't had to worry about because the windrow has been too small. now that we are dealing with a bigger one its causing it to flex and get jammed in there. may be worth setting it lower and brining your ratchet bar with you just incase the pickup can't pull the product through.

I will set the guard a little lower. I will keep you posted as to if the wrapping decreases!

@@PrairieSunsetRanch I had that in mind when I looked at the Vermeer the other day that 605 N has its wind guard tines laying right on the bands of the pick up which makes sense cause this is the first year where that baler has ran really quietly. Usually its always banging against the bands on the pickup cause theres so little going through it. (least the last five years )LOL

It might be cause it’s green. Lol. I know mine is taking a one way trip off the farm this year. Had it from new and 12 000 bales in I’ve had enough of this piece of junk🤬. Good thing my old soft cores are reliable. Hahaha 🤪. Might have to try a different color this time. Might even be a Vermeer. At least I’ll be visiting a different dealership for a change. Those fingers are pretty important for feeding the crop in past the rollers for sure!! 👍👌🍺🍺🥃🥃

Knock on wood but my baler hasn't caused me too much issues this year but honestly chad I am considering upgrading both my baler, and hay rake. 🤔 A bigger disc mower would be nice too. I might get the wife to take out a small mortgage so I can buy all 3 LMAO 🤣👍🏻

Yes, there's a reason for the fingers..aka wind guard..

Lmao, apparently they r super important! Probably took 5 years off the ole green girls life unfortunately! 🤣😱
