  • This is the latest offering from Olto-8. A 5 layer dial that's skeletonised, with an insane layout and hand function. I've fallen for it!

Passerby- “Pardon me, do you have the time?”
Me (wearing Olto-8), looks down, stares for a bit- “ummm... no.”

Passer by - Excuse me, do you have the time?
Olto8 Wearer - The real question is, Do you have the Time for me to figure it out an tell you?

Fun story, my younger brother when he was around 16 had never learnt to tell the time on a standard watch but wore one everyday. I was with him once when he was asked for the time by a passerby...he looked at his wrist for a solid 5 seconds, looked back up and said no 😂

Perfect review brother....I absolutely love this....as you know I don't like skeleton watches and couldn't picture my collection with one in it, but this has blown me away....I would be happy to wear one of these....wish them the very best as they move forward....🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⌚🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⌚

Definitely a different type of level to the skeleton watch! I love it myself. Thanks for watching pal!

Obviously, it's probably not an every day watch, but certainly a conversation starter... Thanks for sharing this piece, Jason!
The major point for wearability is the lug to lug distance, which explains why this piece wears so well!
I don't know if you noticed it, but your glasses reflect your light...

Yeh, definitely inspires some debate! I did haha, can't get away from that ring light

As I mentioned at the unboxing, I would never wear this myself (my Seiko Flightmaster is borderline busy to me lol). Nevertheless I still appreciate the crazyness and all the details that went in here, and I'm glad you and other channels show us these things every now and then considering how the market is saturated with yet another diver.
Also once again, not a fan of Miyota 8 series myself, but it was kinda cool they modded it themself to fit this and to keep the price down. Great review as usual, mate.

Love to shake it up every now and then! I love a diver just as much as the next guy but every now and then I want to look at something that confuses me and delights me all at the same time!

I honestly didn't notice this thing had a seconds hand until you pointed it out. 😂 Regarding the lume, I'm not sure if you can reliably read it as soon as the roman numerals fade tbh, that's an issue conventional watches don't have.
Have you considered switching the strap to a similar blue one?
Btw. I think you actually look significantly better with the glasses.

    • @JasonTheWatchGuy
      @JasonTheWatchGuy  Před 3 lety

That is very true, didn't think of that point!
I might pick up a blue one to match the case but I also might pick up a brighter yellow to set it off more.
Haha, thanks! Is that because they hide more of my face? 😂

It may cover the dark circles a little bit. 😛 But I guess it's the straight lines more than anything, balances the hair out.

If Picasso designed a watch! Everything's there, but not quite where you expect it.

Sorry Jason this has to be a big NO from me, and for £460 I can think of at least a dozen other watches I would prefer and save money.

Brilliant review !! I love it !!! I just dont have the patience to do the kickstarter thing !! ;-) I think I need to add one of these to my collection !! who wants something that mostly looks the same as everything else !! trouble is I cant sneak this into my collection without Mrs noticing which other styles is an option !!! " No I have had this for ages " !!! ;-) Kindest Regards - Nick.

This one will definitely not float past the missus, or anyone else for that matter haha! I do however believe women can sense when we've bought a new toy

You state "it's not exactly meant to be functional" but I have to disagree. If you don't already know the hour, you're probably late for whatever you have to go to anyway. The rest of the time you only really focus on the minute hand, which is pretty easy to glance at.
The reality is the only time it's difficult to tell the time is when it between 11:30 and 12:30, and the two hour hands are showing. Outside that situation, it just takes a quick glance and you know the time (having Roman numerals on yours is really what makes it more confusing for most. The one with Arabic numerals is a lot easier.)
I think you missed the only major drawback in your review, you stated it's a sporty, occasional watch, not meant for diving. Yes, that's the look, but it is in no way a sporty carefree fun watch. Has a great rubber strap, and lots of color, and a stylish sporty design. Looks good with jeans and tshirt or pair of shorts in summer, but also only 50m water resistance and a non-screw down crown. Pretty much anything else could be excused if it had at least 100m water resistance (preferably higher) so you could use it all the time, and not worry about it. Even cheap basic 100$ watches offer 100m water resistance now. A heavy rain and you'll be diving to protect your watch, which will be damaged quicker than your modern smartphone.

That movement really grabbed me, but the design isn't for me. I'm not a massive fan of square watches either.

That is one seriously disgusting looking watch Jason. It could be a good conversation starter at a pimps convention. I thought Hublot was bad, this beats it hands down for bad taste. I seriously thought this was an Ai Express offering, not a 400 dollar watch.

I hate to say it but that's the worst watch I've seen in a long time.
