    This gentleman needs his own television show. The clarity about how he explains the most complex things is almost an art form. Let me go and get my kit lens and leave some of these expensive lens home🤣😎. Lol

    • @harrison00xXx

      He is probably not that much wrong in some cases.
      I had for years a 18-55mm kit lens (the time before IS or STM was in them!), all the other lenses i had were prime macros, a telezoom and so... not really a lens which could replace the "standard" focal range of the kit. So despite having a few more expensive lenses, i often used only the kit lens because the other ones had more or less special cases i didnt need at this events.
      But looking behind - i guess its still (next to a fast, cheap 50mm prime) somehow needed at the point you know you like photography that you search as fast as possible for a kit lens replacement. Doesnt have to be any 24-70 L or so, but at least something with better IS and proper USM, bigger aperture (with probably more blades) and if possible better imaging quality than the kit.
      I personally still am looking (since nearly 10 years, lol) for a proper "universal" lens with a useful variety anywhere between 15-80mm and GOOD imaging quality, upgraded already twice (first to a 28-105 USM, then a 28-135 IS USM) but these lenses are barely better than the kit lens (when it comes to image quality, anything else is "superior" like superfast AF, more zoom, bigger aperture, etc)

    I watched a video by a very famous photographer recently where he was asked about portraiture for beginner photographers, and he used a 100mm 1.8 lens in his explanation.
    The only thing I thought throughout the video was: what new photographer is going to own that lens right off the bat?
    Your video is much more sensible, and it deserves more views.

    • @jazzman1626
      @jazzman1626 Před 3 lety

      A Rolleiflex is a cracker of a camera. I had a Yashica 635 TLR which had an adaptor to allow 35mm film to be used as well as the 6X6. I even tried using a polarising filter on it which is a bit complicated 😂. Then there’s the first time I tried to take a photo of a moving subject and seeing it disappear 😂😂. I love their whisper quiet leaf shutters and the shutter buttons so light and easy to press that camera shake is reduced. They draw a fair bit of attention too.

    The kit lenses can be great. I've actually used them to successfully photograph an entire wedding. I can't wait till I have enough to purchase a 24-70 F2.8 for better quality what I was able to do with the kit lens was still great. No I am not a pro and likely never will take that step but still I am enthused enough to have shoot over 100,000 photos over 14 years.

      How, in anything but decent sunlight I have to crank my iso and end up with grainy photos

      @@maxwell5428 Because most of the wedding was in good light and when it wasn't I used my flash. I never said it was as good as a F2.8, just that used right it can be a "good" lens. Never said it was the best.

    Good info! I've just ordered this lens to see what kind of photos I can get with it. A 24mm lens works great for most of my walk around photos. The low light limitations can be reduced with a higher ISO which I know will increase the noise but in black and white It may add an old look. Just ordered the Canon 17-55 which has great reviews but at a high price tag. Maybe I should have went with the Tamron. I have a A.A. Degree in photography but am always reviewing basics and any knowledge that will make me a better photographer.

      i just bought my girlfriend the canon sl3, and it came with the 18-55 lens. Is the 17-55 much different? if so, what's the difference?
