I’m amazed by your process. I’m gonna have to try this out
Thank You for sharing 🙏🏾
Gorgeous!!! Thank you so much for your explanations. You are so far above me, but I've still taken notes on what you're doing so I can refer to them again.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful painting art with nice edditing 🎶 🎵 ❤ 👌
Amazing
Omg Lydia this is so magical and creative you constantly blow my mind. Incredibly beautiful
Très belle oeuvre. Je suis admirative devant votre créativité et la facilité avec laquelle vous arrivez à la sublimer sur la toile. 👏 Merci de continuer à nous enchanter🙏
Love this ... absolutely stunning ... good tip about the flowers too 🧡🖤🌺
Ooooooh, I love this, awesome work Lydia! You make this look so easy and I know it’s extremely difficult, which just shows how talented you are.
Well done lovely lady. 👌
You are a lovely lady! Thank you so very much! I'm so glad you like it!💖
I've just discovered your channel, and I'm blown away. Been binge watching your videos instead of working, but wth, it's soul food. You're an astounding artist and your work is fabulous. Thank you for sharing
I love everything, but the flowing hair is mesmerizing to me. I think, perhaps, because the textured wall seems so solid, her hair makes her feel more ethereal. Having her skin so pale against the other colors makes it glow and adds to the effect.
I totally resonate with the look you created (and I suppose what I would call "Fractured Elegance"), absolutely love it!
Hope you've been enjoying your 43rd year! Cheers, Cat 😻
I love your process and ultimately you create a tremendous mood.. What a lovely face, such a feeling of
joie de vivre❣️👌🏻💖😍
Love these textures you're creating! I remember reading books as a youngster with those textured covers, I really liked running my hands over them 🙂. (Side-note: probably a faux-pas to do it with a painting, or at a gallery...maybe). My friend the sponge would be a killer painter-song! I bet you'd get some interesting sonic palettes to work with (maybe nautical-themed, maybe not...😅). Happy pre- birthday! Hope you're having fun ❤.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼😍
Oh wow this has the vibe of "Ophelia" I LOVE it. It looks like it came from John Everett Millais's collection. You created an awesome painting!
OMG!!!!!!!!!!
👍
Great video & painting! When I saw the cover shot I thought the woman was under water like those faces in the water on Lord of the Ring. I’m a nerd and morbid to go there, right? 😂
Happy almost Bday! 🎉From your humor i knew you were a cool age but look so young! 🤘🥳
I am also a morbid nerd... As I surround myself with skulls and have a tapestry of Middle Earth on my wall.💀🤓 So you are in good company! Thank you for the Birthday wishes!!! It is a cool age!😁💖
Could you do a video on how to do flowers.
So, this is basically kick ass, am I allowed to say that 👀 😬 😂. I adore textures, always manage to find a way to incorporate them but this is just amazing work!! Love it. Side note also turning 43 this year. This video was 7 months ago so that makes you a Pisces or Aquarius. 🤔 Why I felt the need to even point that out I have no idea 🤣😂 now that astrology is suddenly main stream and cool I feel the need to just bring it up everywhere since it’s no longer loser status like my childhood days 🤣 ugh might delete this. Anyway your work freaking rocks!!
Thank you!!! You are correct! I am an Aquarius! Right on the cusp of Pisces. 😁❤😁
Hi, I'm trying to paint in this new process to me where I've always painted in a realistic fashion. Meaning what I see is what I paint, the light and shadows are already there. Now I'm blocking in colors and using images from different sources that all have different lighting. So my question is how do you consider the light source when painting abstract portraits? and is the lighting consistent throughout the painting?
I do consider the lighting... But only on the subject. Unless there are other items that I include within the painting. I do make sure the light is coming from the same direction in that case. If there are more abstract elements however, I don't worry too much about them. But the focal point... Definitely. Sometimes I will even take a photo of myself with the light coming from the direction I want it to and use that as a reference.
Me again :) ... how to "seal" protect afterwards if using an acrylic & oil mix painting? I'm assuming without it, the acrylic parts will be more flat and matt, while oil would be more deep and shiney ...?
Hey there! So I use Gamvar gloss varnish by Gamblin for my acrylic and oil paintings. The great thing with this product is that you can varnish when the oil paint is touch dry and it still continues to cure. I usually wait a week or so, but I use thin layers. It works really well on the mixed media paintings.😁
Is it necessary to gesso after you use modelling paste to create texture everytime
No... I've done it both ways. I prefer to gesso, but you don't have to.
This is a stupid question...but I know not how else to get an answer. I don't believe I have ever heard you say (shame on me) why you use oils over acrylic when creating faces...why?
So... Oil paint is richer and not as flat as acrylics. I have more working time because it dries slower so I can blend colors directly on the canvas. It makes the portrait look more lifelike. 😊
Amazing as always
