  • We were honoured to welcome the great Freddy Maertens to the Rouleur Classic for the first time. Tune in now to hear how he became World Champion twice, five years apart, and beat the likes of Moser, Hinault and Saronni

Class act Freddy. I don’t think he really received the recognition he deserves. He definitely has my respect. A true legend.

To bad Freddy's english is so limited, he has a lot to say, he was so good on the bike, such a powerfull rider and explosive sprinter, is a good thing she made her homwork and knew what to ask and how to take the conversation along. Respect and admiration for the great Freddy Maertens. Thanks for posting the video.

One of THE greats!!!!!!! And, as one British publication stated, "If it came to a sprint in the end and Maertens was in the mix, there could only ever be one outcome......." Insane training regimine he created for himself.

Freddy Was one of the purest cycling talents that ever was. His life was a hard one… I know he had issues with alcohol that ultimately destroyed his career. But All of the legends at the time would agree.

great to see one of my favorite runners from the 70s again, a terrible finisher who had to be eliminated before the finish line because he remains an excellent sprinter! he never let go with his beautiful green jersey! with his boxer's nose he was a real danger to others !! and we French have always loved this freedy which has the same character as our great Bernard Hinault! from memory Freddy had the pleasure of racing in this famous Ti-Raleight team ... it seems to me ...? with Kuiper ... and other great runners ... what a lucky guy!
