    For eggs I crack mine and put them in a mason jar tightly secured, In the carton they can easily break when people start to open and close the Cooler.. Thanks Mason Jar!

    Thank God, a really good cooler video!! Thank you for showing a very practical tutorial on packing the Yeti, I wanted to buy one but was put off by not knowing how to pack one. Yes, I've seen a few vids but this one is brilliant, showing food I would eat and how to pack, thank you!! 👍🏻👍🏻

    Is this really enough ice? Yeti suggests 2/3 ice and 1/3 items, but that doesn’t leave much room for food/drink. I’ll try this. Thank you 👍🏼

    Suggestion. Use fresh water for ice and freeze in containers so that when it melts you can drink the water.

    • @exploresouthwest
      @exploresouthwest Před 3 lety +7

      I don't trust the water that has been in the bottom of a cooler no matter how much you clean it out. However if you wash and refill plastic half gallons jugs of milk, or water bottles with drinking water and freeze them ahead of time you can use them as ice blocks and have ice cold drinking water when it melts. And you don't have soggy water at the bottom of the cooler at all eliminating the soggy food issue (or use ice anyway but needing much less of it and a shallower pool at the bottom of the cooler).

      I found a smaller tub that fit inside my cooler and was big enough to hold my food and keep it separate from the drinks/ice. Make sure you out some ice packs in it however.
      I got my tub/bin at wm. Just make sure you take the full dimensions of the inside of your cooler before you go and you're set

    • @OarsRafting
      @OarsRafting  Před 3 lety +2

      For use on the river OARS has custom cut the plastic trays that bakeries use to put their bread on into cooler sized pieces which might not be an option for someone who doesn't have the connections or the tools. However, a thin foam barrier like this one on Amazon will work just as well: www.amazon.com/Coleman-Rest-Easy-Camp-Pad/dp/B00168ZJWY Good luck!

    Using this method, how long will the ice last?

    • @OarsRafting
      @OarsRafting  Před 3 lety +3

      It's hard to say, because it will depend on the quality of cooler you're using and the temp of other foods, how often you open it, etc. However, using YETI coolers, our Grand Canyon team has reported that they've returned from 17-day trips in June temps with ice still in the cooler.

  • @jessepalacio6150

    In case of a power outage, how long will foods stay cool in a cooler?

    • @BladePressure
      @BladePressure Před 3 lety +1

      Uhhhhh. Depends on cooler quality, ice to food ratio, and outside temp. So it depends.

    • @OarsRafting

      As Ryan points out, there are definitely a lot of variables to consider so we can't provide solid advice.

    • @coreybrady4541
      @coreybrady4541 Před 2 lety +1

      Your refrigerator and freezer practically are coolers. If the power goes out refrain from getting in and out of them and they should last on their own a bit. Moving the food to a room/ garage temp cooler wouldn’t be wise.
