i love that herzog seems to be totally unaware about conan having written for the simpsons.
He doesn't seem to fit very well in the 21st century. He said he has never owned a cell phone (god knows how he's contacted then), and he didn't even know that the Simpsons, one of the most famous and influential cultural icons of this century was a T.V show, indicates that he doesn't really care all that much about things other than his film making topics.
@@MegaHariboboy he has also said that the 20th century was a mistake, in its entirety.
The industrial revolution, even@@Vingul
@@MegaHariboboy Yes, but let’s not get that backwards: he’s not a Luddite or technophobe, these things are just tools. He’s got stuff to do, and a mobile phone that commands your attention is a distraction: not owning one is a huge privilege, because he sure as hell has people who work for him, who do own a mobile phone, or probably three. And popular culture exists in silos, too: I’ve never played video games as an adult, because I know I would get lost in them and spend too much time. So even though I roughly know what’s going on, there’s a whole world out there of which I’m not aware. So yes, Werner is not like the other children, but a lot of it is just focus, not eccentricity.
His monotone voice works equally well for comedy and horror. Combined with his infectious sincerity, this man is a global treasure.
Conan: "One of the most popular TV shows of ALL time around the world"
Werner: "I did not know that"
bruh 😂
It's adorable how honest he is. 🤣
For a second thought this was my comment like "I don't remember saying this"
A lot of people his age don't. I remember my Uncle discovered the Simpsons in his 60's and telling me how great it is. His generation didn't have always on access to every bit of information in the world and had other things to occupy them instead of TV.
Herzog has this wonderful habit of popping up in shows where you’d never expect him. Parks and Rec, The Simpsons, The Boondocks, American Dad, The Mandalorian and even Rick and Morty. He also provided a voice for the English dub of an under appreciated Studio Ghibli film, The Wind Rises.
Interesting
My favorite parody is Paul F. Tompkins doing Werner Herzog writing a Yelp review of Trader Joe's. 😆
"...be sure to get the dark chocolate peanut butter cups, they are right by the register"
"Madness reigns." 😂
His guest roles are legendary
Thank you, Mr. Werner, for doing the Simpsons work. Always glad to welcome newbies into Springfield.
BEST. INTERVIEW. EVER.
Fred Willard and him were in The Boondocks and they said the"n" word a bunch, its really funny.
Herzog should be cast more often, he is great as actor as well!
Badass actor
Werner Herzog calmly telling me and encouraging me to eat my fingers will be my next fever dream.
He does have a terrifying presence. But it's nice to see him being nice
If I can ever get him to be the voice of my GPS it would be a wonderful gift. Make every trip an existential journey.
"turn the car around, now, I encourage it"
His guest appearance episode on The Boondocks is one of the best things in television history
Wait what?? I must have missed that!
@@AConquerorsVendetta He appeared as a version of himself on the premier episode of Season 3 titled "It's a Black President, Huey Freeman".....I remembered when it first premiered I couldn't believe they got Werner Herzog to lend his unique voice to the show that I couldn't wait to see the end credits to make sure it was really him lol
I loved his appearance in "Parks and Rec". Just standing there watching April and Andy.
I love this combo of people.
"But bounty hunting is a complicated profession" yeap in my isolation covid time, this Man voice was something that stayed in my memory.
I’m a little upset they didn’t mention his role in Rick and Morty, he practically stole the episode for me. That four line monologue he gives always kills me whenever I watch that episode Interdimensional Cable 2.
Yeah, Conan is an intellectual and went to Harvard. Only us intellectuals understand the groundbreaking comedy that exists in the universe of Rick & Morty
@dreamless8156 you're insecure.
@@frankstallone3864 It's a reference to a meme.
I watched the Reacher he was in while recovering from retinal surgery. I was terrified I would go blind. The movie in general was very entertaining. However, the scene Herzog references with the fingers had me in stiches laughing hysterically. He's delivering these monster lines in the tone of, "would you like some tea?" and that juxtaposition along with his voice and the eye make up just had me howling. It really helped my healing. And btw, I can see out of that eye. P.S. the line that just slayed me was when the "subcriminal" as he calls it, couldn't bring himself to chew off his own fingers at Herzog's character's behest, one of the henchman shoots the "subcriminal" dead and Herzog's character says in a complete monotone: "Always the bullet. I don't understand." I lost it.
His deadpan delivery was genuinely funny in a VERY dark way lol
Such a humble man...
I love Herzog!
He was incredible in Metalocalypse
\m/
We need more Werner Herzog in our daily lives. Genuinely an incredibly fascinating and unique man.
Mission Impossible and John Wick could both do with Herzog cameos. Maybe the next Wick flick could start with Herzog narrating about how bad ass Wick is?
He made a perfect Favez with his hand Gesture... I could almost see him
This guy is so awesome, christopher lee material. They don't do people like that anymore ❤
this guy can scare the hell out of anybody by just saying "good morning "..
His voice is iconic. Sounds like best movie villan voice.
My favorite Werner Herzog quote is: "I look into the eyes of Leo Fong and I see nothing but darkness."
A man of culture I see
@@nickturner1137 And a Richard Evans follower.
@@smradztoiek I don't mean to be rude, but that's famous celebrity Rich Evans, the man has been seen on The Ellen Show. He deserves your respect. Not a lot of it, not even some of it, but a little bit.
@@nickturner1137 Hence my following of the good "man".
Wasn't he a narrator on an episode of American Dad?
thie guys insane and I love it
They are kind of right about the preservation of different medias. We can still read Shakespeare plays from the middle ages but we have lost hundreds of good films from early 20th century due to cost cutting or accidental warehouse fires. And storing movies on digital medium like on a hard drive, ssd, usb stick, dvd, blu-ray, etc. isn't safe either in long-term due to bit rot. Tapes are great in long-term preservation but they are not as accessible as other formats.
Werner Herzog is one of the most fascinating people in the world.
I know he doesn’t appreciate paul f tompkin’s impression but you can tell paul understands and relates to werner. As do I. I only have connected with his world view along with H.R. Geiger. Nature is cruel, man can control it as much as they can but nature will always win in the end. We must have as much fun and find as much fulfillment as we can possibly obtain and many will not achieve fulfillment so we must be grateful. Good work conan thank you for this. And thank you for talking about my friend from high school Basil with his official conan trash can bit. That meant the world to me.
Love his guest star appearances, especially on The Simpsons. It looked exactly like him as well. His German accent is so awesome and sarcastic sense of humour. 😆🤣😂👑💎⚜️🏆🇩🇪🎧🎙️
him pointing out the “anarchy” of the simpsons reminds me exactly of conans impression of him
We only get video clips of Coco's podcast, right? The full version in video form isn't available, right?
seems to be the case.
The way he says “Evil” is so awesome 😂
Very good 👍 👏 👌
His cameo in Parks & Recreation was his best role.
The Boondocks episode that Herzog narrates is one of my favorite things ever
I was JUST thinking about that finger eating scene from Jack Reacher yesterday! Lol. Such a good scene. I was wondering if I could bite 2 fingers off to save my life.
Sounds like Giovanni Giorgio :)
image him as a walmart door greeter 😨
Let's not forget about Shrimply Pibbles!
I want Werner Herzog to do my eulogy
lol never knew.
👌👍👏
Very few people know this, but Conan once worked on The Simpsons.
I think he was an intern or something.
Sarcasm doesnt translate very well in these comment sections. If you’re not being sarcastic… Dude, Conan talks about the Simpsons all the time
This Conan guy is definitely impressive. He's brilliant, hilarious and likeable! If he works hard, I can see him making it to TV someday.
Sarcasm in language is a form of irony that requires tone and familiarity to be conveyed effectively. This is a basic tenant of sarcasm. Texting to strangers is the complete opposite of that. @@SpaceJockey805
But Conan is a tv guy; isn't the Simpsons just this comic-book stuff that you read in the papers?
@@SpaceJockey805 No, the sarcasm was obvious; you're just a dummy. Hope this helps.
As Werner finds some roles are in tents, his one in the Simpsons was campy
Now we need Herzog to go on Hot Ones
i would love to watch/hear more about why or how they think writing will last much longer than his films, i agree but not for the main reasons they said, and also the first movies and not 5sec tiktoks are only abou 140 years apart, idk 1885 been around first "Movie" and not 2010 tik tok comes out, and now humans just have shorter focus now and tik tok, instagraghm, youtube, etc etc. all use the 20 sec format. and so much of that has been consumers sick and tired of word or time padding, in america it took 15 years for youtube/google when they bought it after 4 years, that youtube videoes where 10:24(almost always even # but i think it was just for how youtube uploading or hosted stuff idk lmao sec, becuase youtube didnt pay you for the ads if its not 10 min, so 2010-2015 where mostly 10min vids just for the ad money and it was a meme and got so big or it was 6mounths after google bought them they changed i think idk.
Hi Verner I’d like to introduce you to my twin nephews this is Ry- “BUT THEY DO NOT SPEAK IN UNISON”
If you die and THIS is the first voice you hear... 😈
...does he pronounce Groening right or not? I just have to trust he does
My name is Werner Herzog, but everybody calls me Giorgio.....
Does he write in English or German?
german most likely first, and then perhaps helps around with the translation to get it as close as possible to the original. you can convey alot more linguistic poetry in german than you can in english,
movie scripts might be in english first.. but i reckon his books are german first.
Werner Herzog sounds like Arnold Schwarzenegger with a head cold and a sore throat. :) Close your eyes and listen.:) :)
books are only footprints of knowledge...
Somewhere PFT is thrashing with delight.
"It is a grotesque parody of the bazaar at Marrakech, as if dumb animals had been granted only the amount of sentience required to mock humanity."
books are more durable than movies discuss
What about his turn on The Venture Bros.?
Nietzsche didn't sell three books in his lifetime. But he knew he was Nietzsche.
People love nachos more than Nietzsche.
@@denvergrantz2480 you could teach Nietzsche nihilism, Homer
Matt Groaning. Finally.
I'm interested in his writings, wish we can communicate 1st the white diamond documentary has put me high in participating but now I'm actually homeless and need urgent help from werner Herzog 6:58
Taika waititi gets mad at you if you say "baby yoda" 🤓.
As soon as he clears his throat, his career is over.
Conan also needs sunscreen.
Sorry to burst Werner's bubble, but the way the 100 year copyright law goes, and add to that translations, and add to this the freedom that the internet now gives to anyone who wants to change original written material and present it as an article for anyone else to download...his films will be best preserved, not so his books. 😢
Which is how it’s applied to all great books that exist out there. The freedom hasn’t destroyed those
Stop being an alarmist
@@kiandinyari3740 Yes, perhaps not the book, but I'm talking about the original writers' content...which IS the book, is it not?
Man I love his movies but he himself is insufferable.
Like the jungle
Terrible title
Worst Podcast guest ever!!!
Do you hear that? Im playing a sad song for your loss on the worlds smallest violin
Werner: 'I didn't know the Simpsons existed before I went on the show'...sorry, but that's bullshit.
I hope they gave Werner episodes from the first 10 seasons of the simpsons, cause there is no way he respected anything after that
