As a “finally determined to seriously learn” new player - I have been watching all the CZcams Chess King and Queens for a couple months. It’s really amazing that so many great players share info and create content. I recognize that you’re teaching the same advanced methods (you clearly know the materiel) - however - you more than anyone so far - seem to have an elevated talent/intuition for staying on a principle message - without losing me on alternative analysis of “what ifs and why”. I am not sure what your professional status is - but you seem to be closer to learning the material therefore - you are able to share your breakthroughs. Though I appreciate the million follower Chess CZcamsrs - it’s harder to learn from them because - after two moves of a principle they can start showering down analysis threats and variations in a way that you can tell is easy for them. Since I am just a taker of free content - I am so humble and thankful for any content- but I thought to share this positive feedback regarding how effective your videos are for my level - thank you and keep at it. Aloha
Well said, I am in my 60s and just starting to actually “Study” the great game. I love that she doesn’t assume we are all kicking at 2000. “yet”! 😎
My brother and I were in a rook king endgame earlier today and we settled on it being impossible 😂 glad to know I could’ve won!
Plot twist: Your brother knew it was a win but tricked you into agreeing to a draw.
@@SuperYtc1 probably still wouldve hit 50 move rule before managing
Thank you so much for the one queen mate pattern. The knights move away makes it so easy!
Always something to learn. Im 2000 but I honestly never knew the real technique with k +q I always treat it like k+r lol. Good to know the actual technique of following the king
Love to see you keeping on putting stuff out! :D
You're teaching style is gentle and thorough.
I knew most of this information already, but you managed to sneak in details I didn't think about, especially in the rook and queen pattern. Now I get to save brain space by just keeping the rook closest to the king instead of having to monitor it.
Just stumbled over your channel and binge watched the first two videos. I love your teaching style and how you deliver the content I should know so that I understand it easily. Even the little things that are kind of obvious, but you have to think to get there. (like the opposition with the kings)
I think I will stick to this channel for the next couple years… or even more ☺️
WOW 🎉 learnt a new thing!!!, In king & queen vs king, when the lone king gets to a corner, 1. stop the queen knight moves, 2. position yr queen to cut off the enemy king and 3. bring your king to aid in the mating attack
Thanks for this...
Great video! Your examples , explanations, and the speed you present everything is great for a beginner like me.
I would be interested in a video where you go over a few books you think are beginner friendly. Covering basic openings and puzzles.
I’ve been playing chess for a while and I still learned something from your video, honestly really good stuff right there ! Good job keep it up
Hi Kamryn, I would love to see how you created a plan for yourself to get to 2000. That looked very beneficial for players like me who seem stuck :)
Great video! The knight and bishop mate is pretty complex... I think it's the only piece checkmate that I don't know. A video on that will be cool.
It's pretty difficult. Many people get to like 2000 FIDE without knowing the mate cause its VERY, VERY uncommon.
I didn't even realize you have 2.77k subs. Keep up the work like this and you'll get rid of the decimal in that number in no time
Idk why I'm watching this because I definitely know these :D But I liked your last video. Can you do 2 bishops and bishop and a knight?
I'm so glad I looked at your channel further after the 2 year video! This was to the point and easy to digest!
Very good explanations, better than some I previously saw!
This is soo helpful!! Thank you Kamryn!! You are my role model ❤
Loved the video! Can’t wait to show it to my daughters! 👍🏽👏
thanks, you’ve explained this clearer than what i’ve seen in books
Great content!! Thankyou for posting!!
Superb content! . What's your favourite defenses against 1.e4 and 1.d4 respectively?
Outstanding tutorial. Thank you for posting.
Nicely Done! Thanks for taking the time to share.
Great demonstration. Great for us beginners!
This is great content! I am so proud of your achievements!
Thank you for sharing these videos ! I just subscribed 😊
Excellent explanations. Very simple methods for beginners to follow.
Ciao! I just discovered you channel yesterday and immediately subscribed. For a beginner like me, it's important to have a fresh perspective on the game, with theory explained in a simpler and clearer manner like yours. I often struggle to follow all the big youtubers of chess because I find their way of explaining concepts to be aimed at player who already have a pretty solid knowledge of the game and are around 1400 elo.
Having experienced what it means to get better steadily I think you have what It takes to help beginner to intermediate players. This video is the perfect example of how to handle theory properly. Thank you for your content. Some suggestions I'd love to see (I'm 1000) :
- king + pawn endgame
- bishop knight endgame
- what to do in middle games (analyzing common positions and patterns to attack - maybe attacking the castle with Q + B or Q + N?)
- what to focus on in each elo to make it to the next step and what to prioritize
- how to defend from common attacks
- how you deal with time management.
Love from Italy 🇮🇹
Thank you for the clear explanation!
This was fantastic.... exactly what I needed to study!!! Thank You!
Video idea for more advanced Players: planmaking based on openings, e.g.: Queens gambit declined exchange variation and please point out stuff like: pawn structure and how to use it and where the pieces usually go to and what to attack
Nice videos! Would love to hear more about your journey towards 2000: practical tips, what helped you, what didn't, key stepping stones, ideas etc to become 2000 oneself :)
Kamryn has now done a great video on this and it's a fascinating story.
Nicely done!
Yes more of these!
Ive got a good feeling you are going to help improve my games as Ive played for years and still picked up things from this I should of known but didn't. Looking forward to more of your tutorials.
Oh. I also think you are going to be a well known streamer within the chess community :)
Nice, very helpful!
Just found your channel and it's amazing so far
Thanks for making it easy to understand with clear slow examples 🔥
Thanks for the vid!!
Thanks that’s great. I had seen the queen/king and rook/king explained by others, but you explanation was super clear for me. 😊
A week ago you had 250 subscribers. Great work!
Great video!!
I like that you have given consideration to mating in a way you can pre-move. Gives the ability to finish a game with severe time pressure. Nice!
I'd love if you'd continue on with teaching Pawn endgames!
Great video! :)
I would love to learn more about openings from you
nice beginning. Keep going, I will keep an eye on it : )
I literally just watched this video yesterday and just pulled off the One Rook check mate and I feel so happy lol, wouldn't have pulled it off if I had not watched it. Wasted a few moves getting them on the right squares too but it didn't matter. Thanks for the guide :)
I really enjoyed your first two videos !
Nice to see that you will start making tips videos, there are always usefull to me !
I'm around 1100 elo and I started playing in september so I would prefer for more advance tips !
But ofc it make sense to start with that kind of content and I will probably still watch the vids.
Maybe you can poll your audience to see if they play chess? since when? and what rating range they are in? To better adapt the content !
Good luck for your journey on CZcams !
Absolutely right, these things are basic techniques which all players need to know, well worth learning and practising. Once learnt, never forgotten. As well as heling you win the game, it gives you a feel for how the pieces work and introduces other vital concepts such as the opposition (in K+R).
Becoming a quick fan of your channel as a beginner
Great videos. I do not think I will be as dedicated as you were because my number 1 hobby is tennis but I try to play, learn, watch videos for an hour a day.I have been playing for 3 months. I wish there were more hours in a day to pursue all of our hobbies.
you're a good teacher
you're like the female gotham chess. entertaining, lucid and well presented tutorials. Loving it! Do Openings please! That's what will get the intermediates interested, and that's actually how Gotham got famous to begin with.
make more of these
At 9:19 that’s the one case where you actually should move into opposition, because it removes the need for the waiting move with the rook later. And then again at 10:03, it’s the same situation.
So if you’re forcing the king toward the rook, take the opposition. If you’re forcing it away from the rook, take the square nearer the rook
Magnificent.. In the Silman’s endgame book, he suggests to put the book aside after learning a few endgame techniques and go study other concepts of the game.. so it would be great if you consider following the same method with these instructional videos by making the next video about let’s say middle game strategies or something to have a rounded skills related to these considerably basic endgame techniques.. thank you very much.. you make a fun and easy instructional❤
The rook roller
Lol😂
you already have many fans in brazil lady! x 😁😘
what opening do u play great video
8:28 - For quick checkmate with single Rook, it is best to reduce block of squares. So, here Rc4 would be best rather than giving a check.
Thanks for sharing! Maybe openings lines would be nice :)
Hi Kamryn could you do a primer on the common openings? It would help me to know the point of the moves in the opening, so that I’m not just memorising but thinking through the moves. Also anything that helped you while you were learning openings, please put it out there!
If you would making a short video on a daily routine to getting better at chess. I have over 1200 online games below my belt and a rating of 550. 10 min games. Love your content thanks
thanks
For the King and Rook checkmate. Just try to minimize the window of the oponnent king with the your king protecting your rook all the time. For me it helps to think it like that. till we reach the final checkmating position
i think you should uploud more. and maybe you can be the next gothamchess
How did you end up in my recommended? Anyway. I am happy I got to 650. Time to get to 700. Let's go!
Edit: I learned something! Thanks! Keep 'em coming!
Some content ideas. You can obviously teach anyone below 2000 how to get there, because you've taken the steps. that's your first well of content - The paramount ideas at different levels of that process. Also, it would be awesome to journey along with you into your future goals. Maybe game analyses, tournament overviews or study sessions. I also think a tactical concepts overview video is useful to anyone learning. Pins, discoveries, etc
Your story is awesome and inspiring. Last thought, I think its important you decide what your "brand" of content will be, and commit to making the most engaging version of it that you can, using others' successes and blunders as a guide. Looking forward to your YT future.
The first one is faster if u squeeze the king on the left side starting with Q d8 the king moves to a random position on the column C and then the other queen to C7+ and then u go on till u deliver the final mate in 4 .
This is what my father first taught me when I first played chess
Hi, Kamryn... An excellent video and very informative ! ! Thank you for sharing the video and your knowledge of Chess... "Semper Fi" Mike in Montana P.S.: Kamryn..., is bright, intelligent, and attractive... :)
There is also a faster technique to checkmate with the rook, it's called "the box method" or something like that. And it easy to learn too
The hardest forced checkmate against a single king is the one with a bishop a d a knight. It takes around 32 moves , which means u have to be very careful for every single move especially the colour of the corner to which you are squeezing the king . Otherwise u might fall into the 50 moves trap .
I thought the queen mate was wierd at first but it started to make sense after a few moves. Of course not the best way but who's going to complain about missing a move that was more winning
I've always had issues with openings. I'll learn an opening and practice it, but I'm not sure how to respond to a novelty. I feel like generally novelties in the opening aren't played because it gives you more chances to attack, but I'm not able to actually see those attacks. I just think "well, now what?"
Another thing I have issues with is visualizing piece trades
Any (free) apps that allow you to drill endgame patterns? :D
Is it Thursday yet?
Kind request:1. king + queen vs king + rook
Can you teach how to mate with a horse and a bishop
7:51 nothing you said here was wrong but by this checkmate where you didnt want to go into opposition its best to move towards your rook so you chase his king away from your rook instead if you would chase his king towards your rook you would need to move your rook and lose some time wich you always did do this but didnt say it, btw love your vids
Hey how are you ?
I see in your past vidéo that you have read book as a new player to 2000elo what book do you have read ?
I like to call the first one the walk of shame.:)
what about a bishop and a knight ? i am struggling at this checkmate
1 bishop and a knight? :) and have it less than some quantity of the moves depending on the positions of the pieces. (2 bishops + King, 2 knights +King are easier once of the above exercise) :) what do you say?
hey kamryn
I think checkmate with rook and King is way easier for beginners by just using the king and rook as a box that gets smaller. But great vid anyway
Stepladder, what are you doing!
Do u think it was going to a chess club was beneficial for your progression at chess.
You put a courses for us so we can learn
Help me stepladder im stuck
No more stalemates :D
Only gm player know how to checkmate with king only
💪🖤🤍
With rook the easiest mate is just cut off your opponent king on 2 or 3 files and after that to push him to the corner, my question is why did you not include 2 bishop mate on that list, probably you do not know bishop and knight mate (this is little bit more complex).
Can I play you and learn
Boooooooo
