  • A few weeks ago me and the homies drove out to Philly for an afternoon of shooting with some point and shoots. I took the Nikon L35AF and my boy Mark took his Contax T2. Daniel was behind the camera and shot and edited the entire video. Hope yall enjoy!

    Wow really cool to walk around in Philly with you ! I typed nikon L35AF just to see sample photos (might get one for 5 bucks) and turns out the camera is great (mainly because the photographer is, after all) and the photographs are even better. Nice discovery, I subscribed for sure.

    Been shooting film with vintage rangefinders but got tired of using a separate light meter and manually focusing so now I’m going the AF point and shoot route. Inherited a clean Pentax PCAF35 but it doesn’t work. So I found a good deal on a PCAF35-M which is on its way. I heard that after you snap a photo and you keep holding the button down, it won’t motor advance the film until you let go. A handy feature for street shooting. Anyhow, cool video And I can’t wait to start shooting film on the streets again with the Pentax.

    I fell for the L35AF hype a few years ago. It probably does have an excellent lens. But, the automatic *flash* issue was a major hassle. Instead, i got a Minolta Himatic AF2. Similar form factor, equal lens, and flash can just be switched OFF. It also has manual winding, and with my slotted lens hood, it's like a little Leica. That said, i wish i still had either of the T2s or T3 i used to have.... Ugggh. Selling them was a regret each time, and now the prices are _innnnn-sane._

    • @MarcusLloyd
      @MarcusLloyd  Před 3 lety +1

      i feel your pain. I feel the same way about selling off my hexar AF....

    • @ikaros4203
      @ikaros4203 Před 2 lety +1

      L35 you can hold down the flash, the minolta doesn't have the same old school Sonnar lens design, and can have a lens hood/filters too.

    • @CentaurusRelax314
      @CentaurusRelax314 Před 2 lety

      @@ikaros4203 Yeah, i had the Nikon, but couldn't deal with holding down the flash. Drove me batty.
      I have a slotted, Leica-type lens hood on my Minolta. I think it's screw-in, so it should take filters, too. Not sure about the lens formulation, but it's really good. I don't think i worry that much about the formula on a slow, 'wide angle' lens. There isn't that much bokeh, and the Minolta does do bokeh well anyway. You really should try it. The Nikon has the hype, but the Minolta is a more practical, better-designed camera.

  • @alicenguyen2pm

    Hi! I recently got the contax t2 and I was wondering if you ever have trouble with L.T. Flashing for indoors and 500 for outdoors. My film speed is 400 so it's not too fast. I'm not sure why it would still blink and if it would affect the results? I use portra 400! I have the Nikon as well but I haven't had a problem with it. Thank you!!

    When I was shooting under hostile conditions where I did not want my Leica M6 rangefinder with 35mm f/1.4 lens to get damaged, lost, or stolen, I used the Nikon L35AF with 35mm f/2.8 lens as a backup.

  • @emelyandtheuke
    @emelyandtheuke Před 2 lety +3

    what's hilarious is that I find the nikon to have much sharper and better metering than contax haha idk why anyone would pay for that cam. I just tape the battery latch until I need to change it, and just hold the shutter while pushing the flash back down to stop the flash from firing.
