I fell in love with Peter's music when I first heard him singing with Old and In the way in 1975. One of the greats of all time. A great ballad singer.

RockyGrass has an academy the week prior to the fest. Peter started a tradition where he and the students stand in the St. Vrain river (creek) and sing a Capella gospel tunes on the last afternoon. 200 folks who can sing with the sound bouncing of the cliff next to the creek. All of us thoroughly imbibed in music, fellowship and other things. Fatigued from jamming late at night. It is an amazing experience. We call the event Rowen In the River.

... them were powerful checks... priceless accounts of where we came from and how we got to Jam Grass (and more!)
studying Peter Rowan's stories of the origins of the Blue Grass genre can provide the basis for an even greater appreciation of the music

I'm totally breathless ... This gentleman is one of the most fascinating Elder Trees in Time's Garden ... He's got a voice like a youngster in his best years, he's got a musical perception that finds melodies as beautiful as simple and complex, and for me, in his songs, he embodies all the glittering images that I have in mind when I think of appalachian trance in any of Vermont's remote Valleys (even if he was born coupla kilometers away from them). I am very happy to have been gifted the discovery of his music right now before Christmas ... His 2014 album Dharma Blues is a gem like no other I know ... Imagine 20 minutes of "River of Time" while you're amidst of it ... Thank you, Monsieur Rowan! Your music reaches and touches over the Big Water right up to us in Switzerland. Did you know that the concept of "cowboy" has direct connection to our European alpine mountain ranges where Indian Gopis ("go" - cow - govinda - gopi - cowgirl) are said to have escaped from wartimes in the far east? Your music, Mister Rowan, translates back this relationship of ancient times!

Met Peter outside his office in Sausalito back in '09 or so, I worked on another floor in the same building, never knew this legend was right over my head for 3 years. ♥️

Oh my gosh! What a fabulous interview! There was so so much information there! Peter Rowan is truly a genius and master in his world! That guitar and all those licks are just part of his body and soul! I just love him and all of his music! Im especially fond of his cowboy music with Don Edwards and his My Aloha songs! Love to all who honor him!

What a sharp and connecting mind! The way he allows his internalization of a song translate through his fingers and off his tongue is such a gift to the world. A true artist who also takes the time to teach others from his experience.
