This makes me sad because it's not the child that necessarily "complicates" things. It's the lack of support from the partner/father that does. Having a child with someone who is technically "present" but unavailable is a terrible thing to go through. Parenting is incredibly hard, and every mother needs help from their spouse or partner. There shouldn't be a single mom in a two parent household. It's completely effed up and so cruel to the mother and her child (or children). I send my love to anyone who is going through this. May you find the love and support you deserve. ❤
Also, before anyone comes at me, I am fully aware that having kids makes things harder. I am a mother. I've been there and done that. My point is that if you're in a two parent household, raising a child should be easier (not easy! don't get it twisted) because there are two people to rely on. This means you should be a team. It shouldn't be a one man show. It shouldn't be the woman/mother doing everything and the man/father just in the background taking credit for just "being around." That's not okay, and that's the message I'm trying to convey.
I also want to add that while we are discussing heteronormative relationships, this also rings true for same sex relationships. It can't be one single person doing everything for their family when two people are fully capable and available. Both partners have to pull their weight and participate. It's only fair.

My heart goes out for the strong young moms out there with no adequate moral/emotional support . I am a young mom myself but boyyy do I have it easy with such a loving and responsible man. Never settle for less ladies! Kids are never kids forever they eventually grow and not need u as much anymore :( My hope is that my child calls/talks to me about her success and failures. I'll be there no matter what.

Right. Its alao important to foster a connection with your kids outside of them needing you. Recognize their autonomy and individuality without hovering and then taking it as rejection if they dont "need" you. Love is not needing someone.

How could you not know why?
She’s portraying a woman who’s seen as pretty much nothing more than a slave and baby-maker to her husband who clearly don’t give a shit about them enough to contribute to parenting their own child - and this is more often than not the dynamic of male-female relationships (the men rarely contributing or not pulling their weight at all and believing parenting is solely ‘a woman’s job’).
Like you said, this happens to young parents (mothers) everywhere. Except it’s not just the young mothers, either.

I feel bad for the mom, I feel just as bad if not worse for the child. Because this situation always ends up getting worse, and it ends up being bigger than the poor baby and their needs.
I grew up in this situation, but by the time I was old enough to remember anything, Ma had snapped. I grew up in a family situation where my mother expressly states, every. single. day. that she is miserable, and leaves no room for anyone but herself to be miserable, outright telling me that my problems are insignificant compared to hers. If ever I fell down, hurt myself, was bullied by other children, had a bad breakup, had trouble at work, all of it was insignificant because Ma is miserable. My dad is never around, and when he is, Ma is near constantly screaming at him. He tries at least to sympathize with me when I don't feel good, he was only one that tried to play with me, and the only one that lets me talk about my passions and interests. Ma is always too busy with everything else. Which of course to Ma, makes it seem like I've taken sides, and she gets angry seeing me and my father getting close, it seems to her like a betrayal, and she'll pull me aside to tell me that I don't know how horrible he really is.
A family dynamic that starts like this in the video, ends with angry children with no family stability. Having kids and starting a family shouldn't be painted as a necessary goal, or the mark of a functional adult. It looks tantalizing to young people, who desperately want to be free and independent, and that leads to lifelong mistakes. It should be a choice. It is hard, yes, and it's a thankless job that can tear you apart, and it's a job that society paints as something everyone should be achieving, despite knowing that it can destroy your mental and sometimes physical well being. Many people can't handle it, and there shouldn't be shame in that. It shouldn't be seen as something necessary or ideal to be a functional adult. It's like asking everyone to be soldier, or an Olympic athlete. Not everyone can, and I'm of the opinion that, similar to an athlete or soldier, most people shouldn't. Sure, at the end of the day it's worth it to some, and they do a great job at being parents, and deserve praise for it, but it's not worth it to everyone, ask my parents. I don't want to be a parent, and perpetuate the abusive cycles of my childhood. I know that I would be just like my parents, I don't have enough emotional maturity to handle it. And I hold myself as more of a mature adult for that decision than every desperately miserable mother like this that I'm friends with.
