      Same. It's the only portable computer with acceptable weight since years

    I have a Surface Go 3 that I purchased with maximum memory, processor, etc. I'm retired so this is not for business. It's not my only computer but it's the one that goes traveling with me, whether by bicycle, air, or whatever. It's synced with my other computers via a NAS. I also use it to run FulGaz video routes on my bicycle trainer, and it's barely powerful enough for that. I'm not exactly looking to upgrade just yet, but I am a bit concerned that the next FulGaz update might be too much for it. The price of a Surface 4 with max memory and everything is almost exactly the same as I paid for my Surface Go 3 in 2022. I guess that's reasonable. HOWEVER, there is one concern. My Surface 3 has a SIM slot, and the specifications for the Surface 4 make absolutely no mention of it. Is Microsoft really selling this Surface 4 without that capability? If so, then I'll have to start thinking about a different direction for future upgrades.

    I have the Go 3 128gb 8gb ram, and I feel bad after the new come out. The CPU update was needed in the surface go 3.

    I have a desktop computer so I don't need anything powerful. I do however need Windows because sometimes the software I need to use is pc only (not iOS or Android). I bought a Surface Go 2 and it's been mostly perfect.
    People say it's smaller than the regular Surface tablets yet it is pretty big. The ipad mini and whatever amazon fire tablet my dad bough are both smaller. I'm not an Apple person nore are my friends/family so the iPad mini kind of shocked me when I found out.
    My mom's really old Surface RT is about the same height but is longer. So people weren't wrong I guess but I would have thought only because of the bezels but no the actual screen size is larger. Resolutions of the RT is lower though.
    I randomly got curious if they ever made a sequel so now here I am.

    Can't wait for someone to put a Snapdragon X CPU, even something downgraded from a Snapdragon X Plus, which would be plenty fast enough, and give decent battery life, and more USB C ports.

    I think Microsoft should be aware that Windows tablet player is not just them. They could be more serious on Surface than it was, considering Windows as an OS for tablet is really helpful compared to Android and iPadOS, in the context of business.

    I really wish Samsung would make a Galaxy tab Go... I love my Galaxy tab s8+ , it is my go to device, it is a definite laptop killer.... However, if the surface go was a little snappier with a solid state drive... It would be amazing... Make it like the Duo an android device or a new windows OS so it can be a tablet or a laptop (Dual Boot)... Like Samsung Dex... That improvement along with the size... I'd definitely cop that.... I have the Book, Pro, Go amd Duo... I also have Ipad Pro, Galaxy tab s8+ and the Galaxy tab note 8.0, which was my go to device , but Samsung won't update it becaise its old... 😢... Im thinking my next device may be the Z Fold 5 or 6... But ive heard horror stories about the crease....

    • @bland9876
      @bland9876 Před 6 měsíci +1

      I'm a student and use the Go 2 as a secondary computer when I don't need something powerful but portable and it's been awesome.
      I don't know if I could get away with it as my only computer because some of my IT classes require virtual machines but if you're not taking classes that require some kind of powerful software it's probably fine.
      Windows 10 still feels clunky on a tablet sometimes compared to Windows 8 but it's not bad there is a virtual trackpad if you ever need a mouse and I have had to use that the very very rare.

    When it comes out, you should do a comparison with the Starlabs Starlite tablet, which is very similar:
    It also has an N200
    It is priced at $598, however that is with Linux installed, you can pay more to have Windows installed.
    It has 16 GB of Ram standard and starts at 512GB SSD

    • @lazybum131
      @lazybum131 Před 9 měsíci +2

      Similar only in the processor though.
      It's a bigger 12.5" screen (Surface Pro size) and it weighs nearly twice as much! 900g vs 521g for the Go 4.
      The Starlite is much more a fanless budget Surface Pro than the Go. The whole point of the Go is a more portable form factor.

    • @Roy_1
      @Roy_1 Před 9 měsíci

      @@lazybum131 Thanks for the info, I didn't realize the Go was that much lighter.
      The low storage capacity of the Go seems like a significant issue.
      How much of the 64 GB is taken by the OS itself?

    • @alexk.9598
      @alexk.9598 Před 8 měsíci

      Starlite: 12.5" with 2880x1920
      Surface Go4: 10,5" with 1920 x 1280
      Starlite got 16GB of RAM instead of 8 on the Go4
      Starlite starts with more storage on the basic config
      but... (and that's why I will buy the Go4) the starlight is nearly twice the weight of the Go4

    I'd point out that the last-gen Surface Go 3 for Business starts at $500US for the base i3 and 4/64GB config (businesses paid a $100 premium for the slightly better i3 and Windows Pro), with next step up to 8/128GB for $680.
    So comparing base models MS increased the price by $80 but at least you get 8GB of ram, faster UFS storage and a quad-core CPU. If one doesn't absolutely need 128GB storage the Go 4 will be much more usable for $100 less than the Go 3 Business 8/128.
    Would like to see performance and battery life benchmarks once they're out. I don't expect an increase in battery capacity, but maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised. The Go 3 actually had a slightly smaller capacity battery than the Go 1.

    • @rmkd4
      @rmkd4 Před 9 měsíci

      So, do you mean that GO-3 is better?

  • @NoName-zf6nr
    @NoName-zf6nr Před 9 měsíci +1

    To evaluate the price, we need to know more about tech details. How does UFS compare to SSD as to speeds and reliability? Is the display flicker-free and what is the brightness in real measurements? How is mainrenance in practice? In particular, ease and price of batteries and for how many guaranteed years will they be easily available? Battery life in real tests. If, however, endconsumers cannot buy Surface Go 4 with Windows 11 Pro at all, then Microsoft needs to go bankrupt for its harmful business practice. --robert jasiek

    Only available for business users? I mean does Microsoft just want me to totally lose interest in them? Is the GO is the most affordable, consumer facing Surface product they have. They're going to now make it impossible for anyone to get?
    That's it if I need it a two in one on a Windows operating system I'm just going to go get a Lenovo IdeaPad 5i or something.

    I mean this s*** should come with the keyboard. It's just an artificial way to keep the MSRP lower on promotional materials. I love the form factor of the surface Go but once you add the keyboard and stylus the value proposition is pretty spurious. Maybe some value in resale market for some of the older versions

  • @micksensei2259

    That's what I wanted, surface pro is too expenssive and powerfull considerate the task I would use it for. Also the surface go is smaller that is a plus. But thé surface go 3 was a little weak in durability and power for the long run so the upgrade was needed, juste maybe 16 GO RAM would have been great but I'm greedy here.
