- So… we got another Aston Martin. This car has been lost for many years and it has been totally destroyed by nature. But let’s see what we can do with it!

Restore it and I will follow the journey
Thank you!
Restore it please
It’s a massive undertaking but it has to live on as a complete car I will look forward to watching the journey in the coming episodes 👍
I agree. It deserves to live!!
Thought my ‘68 DB6 was in a bad way when I bought it, but now I realise I got off lightly !
Would make a great restomod, with say an LS power plant and Tremec manual gearbox.
How lovely you have a DB6! Likewise, my DBS V8 now seems like a concourse car in comparison!!
I agree, that’s my thought track. There’s too much good to part it out. Yet, it’s totally uneconomical to restore. So something like an LS with a tube front end would be amazing!
Just Saw your Channel. Restore it, its such a lovely car.
I think I will, too good to miss!
The original front end! The photo mockup looked ridiculous.
Absolutely, was just a fun little joke!
Hi there. I have just discovered your channel. My what a dilemma you have with this car ! Having listened to your thoughts, and read some of the replies to your video, the only next move can be to find out what happened to the original engine and gearbox, because on the slim possibility that these items could be reunited, it would be a game changer on all levels. This has to be the first move. To check this out I would first contact AM. They may have some interesting and valuable information. I may then speak to AM specialists if required, but do nothing to it until then. Make the wrong decision now and you may live to regret it, big time ! Best of luck with this, Best regards, Andrew.
Hi Andrew! Thanks for the comment. It is an interesting situation! The original engine and gearbox reside in a DB5…so are long gone as you can imagine the implications of one being fitted to such a valuable car!
They are an hard car to restore with financial sense in play. The cost of an original engine and gearbox would be circa 30k, before rebuild. And for that price you can get a matching numbers project! So there is little sense in a correct restoration, but a lot of sense in a resto mod. I think!
Many thanks,
Charlie
Without the engine & box I agree it isn't worth restoring to original , however a restomod with modern LS type engine with fibreglass or whatever DBS front could be good , Id keep it looking like a DBS . I am restoring my DB4 series 5 Vantage and its way more difficult than of my previous restorations - MK2, MK7, XJ6 S1 Jag, Jowett Jupiter, Lotus 31 ,Mallock MK6 ,Alfa Romeo 1750 GTV ,Austin Atlantic etc good luck .
Do a resto-mod with a Ozzie Ford Barra Turbo in it and smoke the purists!!
A barra would be amazing. Would be such a drive!
Aston Martin was owned by Ford @ one stage, so really it`ll be ok@@HudsonAutoFilms
Don’t break it up! Fix it up! It would be a wild ride
I’ll give it my best go!
"Theres not enough good metal to scrap it" lol great comment! New subscriber here and a great car to watch you do something meaningful with!
It’s true!! Glad you’re enjoying and thank you for subscribing! I’m going to give it my best shot!
Perfect restomod candidate.
Fit a Late v8 vantage engine and box, fab a new front subframe, clean up the bodywork, nitron shocks and a decent set of brakes.
I’ll have mine in DBR9 green over tan alcantara please
I’ll get working!
My brother had a red vantage spec V8 from 1974, and he bought it from an insurance company for 6k back in the 1980's.. it was quite a car
Wow what a price. They dropped even lower in the early 2000’s… you could get them for a couple of thousand. Different times
Most beautiful car ever, good, luck.
I agree! Thank you!
Save it save it , nothing like that in Oz here you are lucky
I will, now I’ve got my head around it - exited to get stuck in
Great find I’m sure it’s in good hands now 🎉
I think so! Would be amazing to see it drive again
Turbo 2JZ restomod monster Aston! ;-)
I’m thinking LS 😏
You could, or you could have a single twinspool turbo 2JZ with more torque down low, more power up top and that sweet straight 6 howl you'd expect from a DBS And there are plenty lying around waiting to be put to good use, (maybe not quite matching the number of LS motors sitting around, but a lot).. @HudsonAutoFilms
Love those rims though!!
Me too! So classic!
Those spoke wheels are great. keep them. reminds me a bit of the Concorde........
They are lovely!
My favorite shape of Aston Martin 👍
Me too!
I had to subscribe once I saw this car. I have done something similar, but with much less expensive MGBs.
I’ve had a few MGBs! It’s going to be quite a journey, but it will be fun!
So this is the spare sill you are talking about! Nice buy btw
Haha not quite. I feel lucky that I bought so many sills last year 🤣
The first one was a couple of patches on the wing bottoms and make new inner wing splash guards one of the bosses did the welding I made the splash guards a painter stripped it to bare metal a big mistake as the primer filler was so thick it needed gallons of the stuff to get it back in shape , I was told the car shipped to Japan .
Hope you secure the funds to progress this build. Your idea of tubular front end with a different face and engine would make a refreshing change from the classic restoration approach.
I hope so! It will be an interesting journey!
Restore the body to original and fit some cheap alternative engine/ gearbox combination
I agree. Lots of engines out there which would make it great fun to drive
Widebody restomod, with a unique engine, and 6 speed manual transmission.
Yes…yes…and YES.
Thanks for the great video I would take your time with this car and it may become clear , just do a bit here and there up from the ashes
Indeed. I agree, it’s a tough balance with life and fun! But hopefully I’ll get it right!
Take what you want from it and ditch the rest would be my advice. Far from being one of the cheapest DBS sold in the last decade this looks like one of the most expensive - at least it will be if you try to restore it! If you do want to try then a Jaguar AJ16 engine is perfect. One of the DBS Chums has done three - including mine.
Absolutely uneconomical to restore! But the price I paid for it made it a no brainier all the same.
I did think Jag engine, generally the car is good from the bulkhead back. So if I do anything, it will be a racing front end. Can do it myself for low costs. But alas, she will probably be sold!
Have you got any links for the aj16 swapped dbs's?
Fiex tha meahtall! That will be a bad ahh car!
It will!!
Wonderful video.. keep the car until you finish and sell the other one and then make the decision as it can be the next project... perhaps you can send it off to be dipped if funds are available so you know how much rust you have to deal with... what ever the case I think for the moment keep it... even if you are on a diet of salt and water in the meantime...
I agree. I think she’ll be sticking around!
Restomod it with a later model engine and make it something different that will standout from the crowd
I agree. V12 DB9 engine..?
love your content. keep it up :)
Thank you! I really appreciate that. Lots more to come!!
Restore it building a new front in original design is not hard all the panels are straight sheet not any fancy bends. The inner wings are available and are the most complex panels. Plenty of second hand front ends also out there. Please keep you can do it looks like you have the skills.
That’s what I’ll do. I’m definitely going to keep it! Lots to come on the build, can’t wait to share!
@@HudsonAutoFilms If you need help or advice on anything I know the body work very well after doing my 1972 AMV8 just ask
Love the optimistic outlook, but wow is there serious pounds to be spent!
You have to stay optimistic!! Luckily I can do most of the work myself. So the huge cost of Labour isn’t in play. Just lots…and lots of metal to be purchased!!
If at all possible, restore it! I will definitely follow……
Not sure I have heard the word ‘subsidence’ in a car video before.
I will try my best! Haha I didn’t expect to ever use that word either!
Have you looked in to the history of the car before you do anything, if it turns out to have an interesting history it could be worth a lot more. 👍🏻😀
I have! Check out my next video on it! I found an old article which featured it. Nothing particularly exciting in its history. But I am only the 3rd owner which is unusual!
Fantasy build ? Tube frame, original shape carbon front end, Aston V12 with a manual box
V12 is the way I think!
Great videos! Sell the second car for parts or the whole car so you can focus om the AMV8!
I’m working on them both at the same time! The variety is nice!
Tricky thing to know what to do with it. I don't suppose it's worth much as it sits, so why not have some fun with it? Don't spoil the lines with a DB4 front end. It just doesn't match at the scuttle, with the DBSs hard lines suddenly disappearing into the DB4s soft curves. I'd wonder about trying to find a DB7 motor (or XJR supercharged Jag motor) to put in it, or a Chrysler hemi maybe. Something with an excessive amount of power at any rate. That recent styling exercise, the Aston Martin Victor could be an inspiration.
I’m definitely pressing ahead with it. Don’t worry, DB4 nose was only a joke! I think I’m going for a big power train. Thinking Chevy, but we will see. Lots of fab work first!
@@HudsonAutoFilms Ah that's good to hear. You seemed to be wavering about getting rid, but if nothing else, this looks like your shot at youtube fame! Just watch out for the IVA test.
@@jamesdeath3477 definitely keeping it now! The next episode on the car will be interesting…
I did some research, due to its age - it’s exempt from IVA!
@@HudsonAutoFilms Ah...yeah....not so much. In the sense that you don't need to MOT it, so it never needs to go near any sort of official checks, then yes. But you could absolutely have a problem if you build something very non standard looking, where they might have cause to wonder about it. Best bet is really to build it with the test in mind, so that if you do get hauled over the coals one day, then you can at least get through the test with minimal grief.
@@jamesdeath3477 absolutely agree. But I was looking at the IVA page on gov U.K., if you look at the exceptions section - it seems to qualify. If you get the chance to look, let me know what you think!
I'd be running for hills. Surely it is only good for parts ? But I may be wrong.
It’s quite a simple chassis to repair. Not economical to restore. But it could easily be back on the road in a revised form!
Build it to a upgraded original nothing beatta!!! Seriously from San Diego
It’ll be better than ever!
Put on back burner eg shelf for later date build
My dream car
Mine too!
Restore. Show off your skills. You are clearly a lot braver than me, who would love a car like that. Paint, restore the V8 and then take your viewers on this wonderful journey. Look forward to seeing what you achieve.
Thank you for the support! It will be a heck of a ride! Lots more to come!
Love the video
Thank you! So much more to come!
What to do with your new acquisition?
Either:
restore it to as new condition (I don't care about "matching numbers")
Or:
restore the body but electrify it
Or:
Fix the chassis, and (if you are able) make a carbon fibre replacement body, and then electrify it.
Chassis work is well underway. Lots more videos coming soon!
Restore it.
It will definitely attract more followers to your channel.
I think so! I’m really glad people are enjoying it so far. It deserves to be saved
Is that a Daimler Dart hardtop hanging on the wall.
Triumph TR4 top!
I think you have answered your own question ... Please restore this Gem (if you build it they will come)
I agree…let’s do it!
Likewise, follow for restoration..!
Good stuff!
Personally speaking I think if your going to want to move up and get bits free and recoup money I’d say restore at no significant cost as much as possible as fast as possible and resell , so the red one I’d of tidied it up and make it look as complete as poss and chuck it on car and classic as a resto but priced accordingly..ban the money and splurge on the good one and you’re suffering bird 😂
An engine for it $15000 gearbox close to $10 K You could fit a big block 427 Chevy mill plus Muncie gearbox for less than half that of Aston Martin's Fit a DB 7 fibreglass front end and sell it
Not sure I’d be able to fit a DB7 front end. But definitely agree on the engine front.
A lot of nonsence...best keep it in original form ...top money...who would want a bastard????
Dont laugh it reminds me of a datsun z280 etc screen backwards lol
Haha I do see that. I used to own a Mk3 Ford capri and that had a similar silhouette…I always thought I was driving a cheap version of the Aston I’d dreamed of! Great car though, was good fun.
It would make a brilliant hill climb car , or I'd go for a Mercedes R129 500 or 600SL floor pan .
It would, I have a lot of the chassis components from a previous restoration. So I’m tempted to get it back to original spec. Obviously starting at the back and going foward
Why do some db5 am’s have a plastic cover on the headlamps and some don’t?
Unsure what you mean, but I suppose it will depend on the generation of the car and how it was spec’d from factory
I thought a DB5 front end on your first Aston might look good !!!
It could indeed. So many choices!
I did mk1 Jag for a guy in the early 90's , about a year later he rang said he has a Aston Martin that had raced in the states , I had worked on a DB5 about 10 years previous and knew the body was aluminium and cannot weld ally I nipped across just out of curiosity and to break the bad news , he said their was a guy in Beamish who did Aston Martins and they could handle the welding but would I do the finishing , I thought good luck to that mate when I was doing the mk1 Jag I used a mates premises in Beamish a guy came in started talking to me said he did Aston Martins and was I any good with chassis work I said if you have the gear cannot see any problems so we arranged a visit , I went up a couple of days later no sign of the boss asked one of the lads and got blanked stood around for about 5 to 10 minutes thought stuff this and walked out , thought I cannot work with these pricks , I had previously worked at a place a new lad started he was not a panel beater he proudly proclaimed he was a Porsche motor body technician , he left and so did I , I went freelancing heard he had a little place so went across I did a few jobs for him but fell out over restoring a Lancia Beta Montecarlo . The Aston owner go stitched with a £27,000 welding bill I heard never seen or heard from him again .
Are they making any more???...when they are gone, they are gone.
Very true. Worth saving
Rat Rod style………modern aston v12 for giggles…….
That would be crazy. Sounds like a plan
The remains of what was once an Aston Martin.
Sad sight indeed
Subscribed 😊 like the ideas
Thank you!!
You could make it wild, and install a 2jze ge turbo supra engine
I did contemplate that! I’m thinking something a bit bigger though.
Buy yourself a proper workshop trolley jack, better, buy two.😊
Already on order!
@@HudsonAutoFilms good man
Great to see this video, shame that someone has let an Aston go so badly but its CZcams Gold right ! would love to see your future episodes on these two as I've just come across your channel. One tiny constructive criticism YOU TALK A LOT ! but ill still watching
Lots more episodes to come!
Please don’t put a LS engine in it
New subscriber here
All depends on how things progress. Ideally I’d like something more classic in the front
@@HudsonAutoFilms good luck to you for having the balls to take on such a project……. Hopefully
Somebody suggested an ozi Barra in your latest vid , I think that could be a good choice if it would fit as they are quite tall
Could a Ford Coyote v8 be made to look like a Aston v8?
I’ll do some reaching! Could be a cool route to go!
.......would a modern V12 fit?
How about a sort of retro mod sort of build. A Aston v12 may be too much, but a v12 jag with manual conversion is a four figure deal for you......
I measured up. Having a tube frame would give enough space for an Aston V12. But lots of other headaches would come along. It would be easier to get a crashed DB9 and transfer all mechanical parts across.
It’s cool - fix it 😊
I’ll try my best!
Restore it back, put a Jaguar straight six and gearbox in it.
It would be an easy and effective route. Very tempting
Wow these cars rust so bad. To think how expensive they where new with no protection to the steel body with our harsh winters. shame on them
Even worse…the factory underseal was filled with cork chunks. So it absorbed water!
How often does your dream car come along ? Keep it.
Very true. Sadly my rent comes up more often… but will try my best to keep it!
i think you have the cash not an issue
Perhaps a bare metal re spray !
I’ll finish the other Astons metal first!
Given the lack of engine, I reckon a EV conversion would add a lot of value to this. I have always wanted an EV classic British car - a Bristol was always the dream, but one of these would be great - electric classic cars get involved in a lot of EV conversions of classics and I wonder if they have any customers looking for a project like this? Worth a call to Richard Morgan at Electric Classic Cars - they don’t have time for restoration - which you may be able to do, but they are masters at the EV side
It is certainly an interesting idea, my heart tells me to make a more aggressive petrol build though.
EV are yo totally out of your coconut???? It would be worth NOTHING and with the China batteries it might also incinirate and possibly cremate you...Crazy ideas. ILOn can stick it up his rear!
Don't even think of ev, ing it mate that would just be horrible
Put a Mercedes V8 in it. They are all aluminium, elegant, classy, effective and very good. Besides, isn’t so that Aston buys their engines from Mercedes now?
Good idea. Yep, Aston are all Mercedes powered now!
10 years from now you would restore it. Why not have the foresight to do it totday as well?
Always a question of can I afford it. But I haven’t sold it…so I probably won’t!
Sell the parts dude!
It would take too long!
Stick a cheap LS in it.
I think I will!
Please! Do not sell it!
I won’t!
do u want to build me a rat rod ?
Happy to chat about it, my email is in the about section of my CZcams
Jag six swap
Very tempting…
You’re gonna be so disappointed when it’s finished. Sadly this was one of the American influenced Astons and is a real turd.
I’ve enjoyed several! Each to their own I suppose :)
I do not know what your p!ans are buy restore it to original is the best. You can do it.
Thank you!
Unfortunately, all petrol cars will soon be banned in the EU and the USA! In France there is a new law prohibiting combustion engine cars called SCHLABOUBVE and in Switzerland the HESCHLAVVO law! In the Scandinavian countries there will soon be a so-called SMORVERBIDEN law) for Germany there will probably be a federal exhaust gas ban ordinance from 2027.
No. In the UK it won't be possible to BUY them new, they won't be made. Existing ones won't be affected.
Don't know what mushrooms you eat, but there's is NO PLAN made public at least, banning ICE cars from being used. The fools in charge have bought into the EV nonsense, which destroys the planet, and gives China money, but they will soon wake up and see that wind power and EVs are doing more harm than good and are not sustainable.
To much jibbering just do it those that are watching can see what you are doing and have knowledge
Stop buying cars without an engine...hahaha. engine will set you back 30k and putting a mini engine in is not on..🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hahah I can’t help it!!
@@HudsonAutoFilms An Adict 🤣🤣🤣🤣👍...BUT if you rebuild the front which possible because in North England is a company that will make you any structural member for the V8 ,find a V8 engine 30k+ rebuild if needed, buy a newer gearbos, 6 speed which nobody will complain about , and fit a new interior for about 3k you will have a 200K Auto.
I have 1971 V8 in progress ,almost finished and a 1976 V8 with a front bump .But 20 years ago when i bought it for parts i also bought all the parts to fix it.Fixed will be the 150K as it is standard model, not an upgrade.Interiors and any SS parts and chromplating I do in Thailand or CZ on my holidays, for about 10% of the crazy prices in UK and top quality.
Good luck 👍
