Thrilling. Exquisite. Breathtaking. Total commitment to the music. Bel Canto as it should be done by true masters: Domingo, Troyanos, and Maestro Levine with the Met Orchestra. Everything about what happened on that stage was why I fell in love with opera in the first place. Is it just me, or is this kind of operatic glory a bygone era? What seems to be missing these days, and can we recapture it somehow?
Magnificent! I adore Tatiana Troyanos, only wish I could find longer excerpts. I guess there are DVD's available. So far as your comment is concerned, Dana Fripp, I agree with you. It is getting more difficult to find a full length opera that sticks to the original story line/lyrics in every way. By "experimenting", they use either blank stages and minimalist colors or the set is like a satirical version of the opera. And some of the costumes, (and behavior), are totally out of keeping with the plot, or exaggerated. I hope that people will tire of this, and return to the magical beauty of the arts, as they were meant to be produced. God bless, and happy holidays to all!
What happened is that there has been shift from vocal to visual art. And reviewers are partly responsible for this. I remember reading 700 word opera reviews in which the singers were only mentioned in some two or three lines! In one of them the conductor was not even mentioned. Go figure! Then we have so many wonderful young voices ruined because they lack a good mentor who can guide and coach them. So sad. I don’t believe there is a shortage of great voices- they just never get the chance to grow and blossom.
Shivers down my spine throughout. Each of them utterly wonderful. I can't fault a thing - I love how they react to each other dramatically. And how the interpretation of each bounces off and takes from the other...
First time I've heard anything from Norma. Wonderful to hear Maestro Domingo sing anything. His vocal mastery is endlessly awe inspiring. Troyanos was a very exciting mezzo who was a great actress. We lost her far too soon. Maestro is still going strong at 77 as of last month, 1-18.

Domingo je gostovao par puta u Bgd kao partner Brede Kalef i Radmile Bakočević sa Radmilom je bio u Toski Mario Cavaradosi a kod Brede ,Don Hoze u operi Karmen Bizea.Breda je sa njime često pevala u Tel Avivu -Izrael
Za Srbiju je važno da je u Milanskoj Skali kao NORMA imala veliki uspeh naša RADMILA BAKOČEVIĆ i niko ni pre ni posle nje nije pevao tu ulogu preko 500puta-svetski rekord 15.5.2018
Fabulous. Just came across this great Lady. Phenomenal. Did she ever sing with Caballé? I'd have lo over to hear that. The cinductor is amazing. Almost takes a rock sensibility to classic music. Something nerdy, modern, and cool.
If she had a proper chest voice she would have ranked as one of the all-time greats. Still, what a glorious instrument she had. And she was a great interpreter!

giampierone010, dal vivo la Bartoli non m'e' sembrata cosi perfetta, direi un frullatore impazzito. Quello che registra sui dischi non trova corrispondenza in teatro e cio' che si ascolta e' spesso ridicolo. Domingo...da giovane era un padreterno.
