- Re-paint of the 105mm EDF T-33 Shooting Star - from HSDJetsUSA.com. This is the US Navy TV-2D livery paint scheme. This jet was from Guided Missile Group One (GMGRU-1) and used to control Regulus missile flights beginning in 1959. The jet was used as a drone controller over the Pacific. In the video we repaint the HSD stock "Ace Maker" T-33 silver paint scheme to this colorful livery. The gray, yellow, and orange should provide a very good color contrast in the air. Overall this was a very straightforward paint scheme project. Anyone can do for less than $25 worth of paint. We used jingbing 2mm masking tape (available from Amazon.com) and Yellow Frog Tape for masking off the different lines. We also show how to mix matching FS colors of each paint color required for this scheme including: Engine Gray (FS 16081), Orange Yellow (FS 13538), and Medium Gray. All airbrush colors were thinned with Createx reducer at about 10-20%. The goal is to have a milk-like consistency. Stay tuned for a detail video showing the weathering and rivet process to complete the look.

After doing one myself.. insane amount of credit to you... this was amazing to watch for the end result...! 👍🇦🇺
Thank you much and thanks for watching!
I'm really impressed on how your process doesn't lift the paint up when removing the masking tape!! I seem to always have that problem! Good job on the repaint!
Thanks Cody! We've found success with masking by sticking the tape to our shirt or pants 4-5 times before applying on the aircraft. It removes some of the tack and helps prevent pulling up paint. Thanks for watching.
The yellow will work better if you spray it white first instead of black, as will all lighter colors. They will cover easier and look much brighter. A little more masking would mean much less paint to apply. Looks great in the end though.
NICE!!!!
Thank you for watching! It was a fun project
Hi, nice work 👍🏻
Do you have any info about How much heavier the plane is after the paintjob?
Best regards, Sascha
Thank you! I don't have the exact weight, but it is negligible. The plane flies exactly the same as before. Thanks!
What gun and compressor are you using? Tip size? Thanks!

.5mm size
@@need4speedrc Thanks! I thought you used the Air Master G79 after zooming in on your video so I ordered that. Looks about the same and comes with .3 / .5 / .8 tips so I’ll use the .5!
@@dsmithwc04 yes you are correct! Sorry I have 2 trigger style guns. They both work fantastic. The one I used in this video can be ordered here: www.amazon.com/dp/B0026SHUMA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_5SZNMV4RAHGEPH4MVVE7
How much more weight for the paint?
Negligible. No difference in flight characteristics or cg.
