    Thank you so much for this video! As a mom with two young kiddos and a dog underfoot, I was able to complete this in less than 5 minutes. I have a GE microwave and the part number was different, so make sure that you check for parts that are compatible with your microwave’s model number. Oh, and to answer someone else’s question-you do have to remove the motor in order to change the coupler (at least with my microwave)-they have a tongue in groove that links them together.

      Sounds good, but there is NO WAY you did this from start to finish in 5 minutes!!!

    So helpful. Be sure to plug in and test the motor is working before replacing the bottom panel. The motor is also available at about $43 now. Grateful for these how to videos.

    Excellent video. It showed me 98% of what I needed. My version of the microwave has a second screw holding the motor in and doesn't need a counter clockwise turn. But this is a minor variance in an otherwise spot on video. Thank you so much for saving me from having repair people in my house during a global pandemic.

    I have a GE Microwave model JVM7195ek1es, S/N SG227861B. The coupler appears to not be thick enough to stay engaged in the grooves of the glass tray. The tray constantly comes disengaged and then stops turning. Is there a thicker coupler that will go higher in the tray grooves and seat better so the tray does not slip off? Thanks. Love your videos BTW. I have repaired many a microwave, dishwasher, clothes washer and dryer because of your videos!

    • @repairclinic
      @repairclinic  Před 9 lety

      StaphAureus The coupling would be physically broken or missing normally.

    Is it really necessary to remove the motor to replace the coupler? Shouldn't pulling it out from inside the microwave and popping a new one on work?

    The turn table jumps out of the groves is the wheels under the table causing the problem

    My dad cooked something for 8 minutes so the plastic piece has melted due the high temperature, do I need to buy the whole set?. My microwave is a Whirlpool fortunately still heating.

      JT you can just buy a coupler on ebay. Try pulling the old one off before doing all the unnecessary work you see in this video.

    • @jt4531
      @jt4531 Před 7 lety

      thanks for the advice, I tried to pull it but, due it's plastic I couldn't do anything about it, it was totally melted at that very moment. I bought a new one (motor turntable and the coupler) for 12.95 bucks on ebay, this new one comes with a metallic pin on it instead of plastic like the old one, which is really cool, hopefully my dad don't screw it this time, LOL!. It's been working perfect without any issues.

    If you are just replacing the coupler there is no need to remove the motor, just remove the faulty coupler and install the new one.

    • @danielcarroll503
      @danielcarroll503 Před 8 měsíci

      Maybe in your case, but the majority of GE Microwaves have to have the motor removed to remove and replace the coupler.

      Disconnect connector from motor. Plug Microwave back in. Take a voltmeter, set it to AC volts 120v. Have someone help you by holding the connector. Then start the Microwave, take your voltmeter leads to each of the 2 points in the connector, you should have 120V. If you don't have 120V then your control board is gone.

    I keep seeing these videos. But my issue is the microwave plate dont stay on this part in the cleanest microwave, I can fix it right and it comes off just by using the microwave, it's a bad design. It suppose to grab it completely a little movement and it's off track. I even had it changed thinking it was a messed up one, ha! The past 6 years nothing but irritation. Samsung sucks!

    There is no view of the motor of the interchange point between the coupler and the motor. It would be helpful to see the motor turned over.
