You don't win with guys like Matthews and Marner, you win with guys like Crosby. What I mean is Crosby will block shots, defend teammates, he will do whatever it takes. Marner and Matthews just don't have that in them.
The problem with most of the criticism is that it is based on an assumption that the Leafs are the best team in the world and should win every game. Reality tells a different story. They are not that good a team and fall prey to their betters. Targeting a few players for a 57 year drought is unfair. Targeting someone because they are paid a lot is unfair. Tavares, Matthews, Marner, and Reilly do not have a save percentage of .883 in the playoffs. It’s a team game. They succeed or fail as a team, not because of one man.

I honestly feel if the Leafs were playing San Jose right now, they'd be down 3-1 about to lose again in the 1st round.....the top performers during the regular season virtually disappear in the playoffs.....Marchand has 8 points already at 35 years of age, what do Matthew's, Marner, AND Tavares have combined thus far? Less than Marchand.

You don't win with guys like Matthews and Marner, you win with guys like Crosby. What I mean is Crosby will block shots, defend teammates, he will do whatever it takes. Marner and Matthews just don't have that in them.
Matthew's had the most blocked shots amongst forwards last year...make a better comparison.

The problem with most of the criticism is that it is based on an assumption that the Leafs are the best team in the world and should win every game. Reality tells a different story. They are not that good a team and fall prey to their betters. Targeting a few players for a 57 year drought is unfair. Targeting someone because they are paid a lot is unfair. Tavares, Matthews, Marner, and Reilly do not have a save percentage of .883 in the playoffs. It’s a team game. They succeed or fail as a team, not because of one man.
Lifelong Leafs fan here. I know for a fact that we would easily if only Marchand wasn't playing or if he at least was taught the rules of hockey. He is such a whiny wimp. Nothing wrong with Marner and Matthews.

Matthews was telling him that he should've been there the first 3 games. 😂 But I can't help but laugh at this now. All anyone here was worried about was will Matthews score 70?? I commented that maybe people should worry more about how many he'd score in the playoffs. Was I wrong ? These guys Matthews and Marner are too easily shut down in the playoffs. I believe this Bruins team is the least tuff team they've had over the past 5 yrs. And Toronto still can't take it. They can't play physical period! It's exactly why Florida beat them so easily last year. They bring in a new GM from Calgary who basically destroyed that team while he was there. Why would he do any better here? They can get alot for Matthews, Marner. Let them go !! What you need in the NHL is physical 15 to 25 goal scorer's. That's what is needed to win.
