    OK Ms. Chi...I'm throwing down the gauntlet.....I want you to make a tunic top, the senior ladies go to, look good. No 2", heels, sleeves (we cover the arms) 3/4 roll up is good....I sew so mine are linen. I know you covered Maxi dresses THANK YOU.........and you are spot on as usual, boot cut and straight leg are my friend in jeans.

    I'm so glad you confirmed mostly everything I already suspected looked terrible on me - I'm petite, long-waisted hourglass, and I can never wear decorative scarves or bow necklines because all that fluff just sits right on top of my boobs! 😆 Sadly, the number one tip for making my legs look longer - tucking in my tops - I never do because it makes my mom pooch (which is several inches below my waist) glaringly obvious. Thankfully you also taught me about peplums! 😁

  • @littlelady7843
    @littlelady7843 Před rokem +2

    I never liked black pants as they are very basic and boring for me. However as I have to go to trade shows for work, typically darker dress pants and company logoed polo style shirts are required. I really don't like to dress that way as my style is feminine and soft. I unwillingly bought one navy blue pair and one black pair straight leg dress pants last year and tried to make them look interesting. I found interesting belts and cute shoes help, like CHI showed in some of the outfits. Great video as usual.

    • @apisme9090
      @apisme9090 Před rokem +1

      Even though I no longer work in a corporate setting, I so resonate. Here is what I would do in your shoes, if I thought I could get away with it: I would modify the sleeves into puffed sleeves (not hugely, just a little more feminine), it may take a bit of added fabric on the underside, but the double seam won't really be too noticeable. Then I'd shape the body by either taking in the side seams at the waist &/or adding vertical darts. Finally, instead of tucking it in, I'd explore leaving it out and belting it, creating a peplum look. Just some thoughts to give you some hope.

    • @littlelady7843
      @littlelady7843 Před rokem +1

      @@apisme9090 You are so creative! I do like lightly puffed sleeves. It will be subtle and not too out there as work wear. I never thought of turning it into peplum. That might not fly as it will stand out too much on a trade show where everyone dressed like a sales associate working at AT&T (no intention to offend anyone, just to give a visual example), but it is a great idea to reshape some non-work clothes to make them look fun. I am so glad there are other girly ladies out there these days. It is very hard to find well-made feminine clothes these days.

    I keep buying black-patterned tops to wear with my black pants and skirts. Most women find black bottoms very basic, but I find them difficult to style and don’t wear them that much. Perhaps it’s just because black is not a big color in my wardrobe, it’s not good with my pale coloring, but I always thought it should work in bottoms. Or, perhaps because my lower body (hips, derrière and thighs) is already on the slimmer side. I just feel drab in black, or black and white - my attempt to soften it - that might be too high-contrast for my Soft coloring type. But, it’s hard to have a complete wardrobe without some black in it, after all, virtually every item comes only in black and one trendy color (this season’s trend colors like orange, lime green, etc., are too strong and warm-toned for me). Many items come in black only. I prefer navy, but this season’s navy is so dark that it looks black except in the brightest sunlight, it just looks off with everything. I already made the mistake of buying one pair of trousers in that color (Gap), and they didn’t even identify them as Dark Navy, as most brands do. I should have returned them, I’ll probably never wear them.

    Even though my legs are on the longer side compared to my torso, wearing long hanging tops makes them look stumpy. I always, always tuck in my tops or wear “cropped” ones, as I’m only 5’4” and short-waisted, these usually end just covering my waistband, perfect, or extend no longer than my hip bone. Long, baggy tops just obscure too much of the body shape, they never look good on anyone. Most women my age (63) wear them constantly, it’s a big mistake, no matter how curvy the bottom, hips and tummy.

    I grew up during the 80s and 90s. Most of the jeans were tapered leg. I never liked tapered leg pants. I think it is because of what you said about the top of the pants being wider. It is not a flattering shape at least not on me. I learned so much from your channel.

      I loved the “Stovepipe” straight-leg jeans of the early 80s, that replaced the 70s bell-bottoms, but they were soon replaced by the tapered leg, not nearly as flattering.

    🎉 🎉 Best styling visuals ever! 🎉 🎉
    No one compares to the 👩‍🏫 terrific tutorial quality of your presentations.💙Love that you cover 🌟 ALL 🌟 the bases in order to slim & elongate ↕️ our frame. 😉Also that all these principles work no matter our exact height. Plus, you cleverly, consistently, & humorously deliver this truth too. Thx for keeping me laughing😃 through the tears🤣.
    ✔️ Mark me as monochromatic (i.e., 🧥👕👖🧦👟). 🖤All black is my mojo & makes me look & feel my ✨️best✨️. 🤗Will follow your advice to use jewelry & belts to jazz it up.
    You look lovely in EVERYTHING you modeled here, but I FEEL 💯% cut off ✂️ in a top that is a contrasting color to my bottom😖 (i.e.,👚🩳🥿). 😬The only way I can tolerate that is if I'm wearing a topper (gilet, waistcoat, shacket, blazer, etc.) that matches my bottom. That way the pop of color is 📘bookended (i.e., 🧥👚👖).
    🤫The only other way I will introduce a pop of color is with my 3rd piece. I would wear a black razor back tank, straight pleated black trouser with black socks & brogues AND your elegant 🟢 green cardigan 🟢 shown here in this video as a topper👍.
    👩‍💻If I was petite, I'd be scouring your site for similarly pretty & practical pieces.
    😊Thx for the continued inspo!
