It’s fascinating to me, that the American build Subarus are so much worse quality wise, then our European, Japanese build ones.
I had a 2007 Outback, it had a completely different Interieur. The shifter was in this giant circular glossy enclosure, it had those short silver or wooden Accents and the Panels and Dashboard were actually extremely high quality. The buttons and surfaces still feelt like new, eventhough I made like 400k KM with it.
Never leaked, never rusted. Nothing in it even creaked.
I sold it recently and replaced it with an SJ Forester XT, a great and surprisingly economical car. It has no problem with me throwing it in a constant 180km/h on the Autobahn, the CVT never made any problems.
A couple of weeks ago, I finally got so visit the US. Loving my XT so much, I rented an American SJ XT.
The quality was atrocious. Ever plastic felt like it was straight from fisher price. Even the body panels felt more flimsy then on my.
It also consumed more fuel then my German XT.
It’s kinda sad, that Subaru downgrades and degrades your models so badly.
I have a 1998 JDM Subaru Legacy B4 RSK EJ208 twin turbo 330 hp, USDM Legacy looks like shit compared to mine. Better interior, body kit, headlights, better engine and transmission.

I completely agree with the "Don't work on cars unless you are mechanically inclined" line and ironically that was what happened to my first car. Got it for 600 and he sheared the cam gear off the camshaft somehow. He was going to replace it with another single camshaft on a DOHC V8. Didn't do anything other than buy a singular one and try to put it back together. He failed miserabley. I now drive it daily and it has almost 180k from 167k. Yes it needed both heads yes the timing belt somehow sheared the cam off.
Prequel kid here. I love the prequels just as much as the OT. I know the prequels were slow and contradicted some story points but overall I absolutely love them and still get hammered and watch them till this day. Episode 2 used to be my favorite because of the clone armor and Natalie Portman 😂
My dad is a vey skilled mechanic and even he called it quits when repairing the timing chain on a boxer. And this guy has swapped several engines and rebuilt countless heavy duty equipment. It's very easy to get in over your head even when you in theory know what your doing. It's the only repair he ever couldn't finish. And he welded up a transmission case once in an attempt to finish a job once. Surprisingly that repair lasts till this day.
Honestly awesome you got Mr Subaru. Glad you asked about the sti, I always wondered why he rarely does content on them but now I know, they were riced out from early 2000s glory days

Back in 2014 my first car was a 93 Impreza wagon, 5 speed. That little 1.8 hauled me from AK to ND to WA then back up to AK with it packed full of everything I owned. I got it with 90k miles and now it has about 250k and my little brother drives it.
This made my day, this was a great collab
they just broke ground on the first central florida location of raising canes. i’m pretty excited, i had the chance to try them when i was in louisiana. it’s like a slightly better zaxbys or huey magoos

The outback impreza's do NOT have a 2.5RS hood. Unfortunately the outbacks have steel sheet-metal with substantially more weight. Although they look the same, the aluminum 2.5RS hood is much, much lighter.
I really liked my subaru legacy GT b spec i got after highschool with the 2.5 turbo. I had a little tune, blowoff and a slighly louder exhaust but still real quiet, couple bullet proofing items i got it at 25k miles and drove it up to 180k and it still ran and looked just as good. Idk how people destroy them so bad tbh. My uncle still has it at 220k miles and it still drives great but at 200k had a bit of an overhall

Kinda crazy, but I have the owners manual that came out of the sti in the thumbnail. It was a one owner car with 90 something thousand miles. Car was bone stock other than an axle back exhaust
I too found a unicorn. 2016 WRX STI Linted 80k miles with 1 owner, no mods, no ECU flashes, and a impecable maintenance record. I had my wallet out as I entered rhe dealer door.
I have a 2018 STi, it's completely stock besides the wheels 👍

Mine's kinda uninspiring. The rear suspension design is convoluted as hell with only one adjustment for camber, and it's just stock legacy layout with a lift so it doesn't handle great. Especially with the mushy ass factory bushings and struts. And the glass gets loose and pinch welds fail in the doors so they rattle every time you close it. Would prefer a previous gen.

I know nothing about Subarus beyond when they had pushrods. Mine is a 1979 wagon with an 87 EA71S engine so it has no timing chain or belts, just 2 gears. People say Subarus blow up but mine has a huge amount of miles on it, mostly at 4,500 RPM and up, with no oil cooler. I won't buy one any newer. Usually buy diesels, bought the one Subaru for 500 bucks missing the engine, put the aforementioned EA71S in it, and it's been doing 50,000 miles a year ever since. The EJ and up engines really do sound like pieces of crap. The Baja is weird and the Brat is a much better vehicle. Great for picking up engines and has a 1000lb payload rating. Gets 40 mpg all day. Bigger bed. Lightweight. EA81 engine.
