  • We recently had a Reddit post go crazy viral with so much encouragement! We made a list of the top-rated BJJ gi’s and a ton of people championed our analysis! We will continue to update this list as we try out more Gi’s because so many people gave us great recommendations for what to try next!
Here is our list of top-rated Gi’s out of the 9 that we have tried so far:
    1. Gold BJJ Gi (did not shrink) - Lightest Gi on the market (275 gsm) and feels incredible to wear. It is not the coolest looking but by far the only one that lives up to the “lightweight gi” claim

    2. Future Kimonos Gi (no longer sold & did not shrink) - this gives us no longer available for purchase unfortunately and it really is a bummer. This thing is right there on weight with Gold BJJ but it’s just really good looking. Future Kimonos was always a bit more expensive unfortunately but they killed it with this Gi

    3. Sanabul Highlight Pro (did not shrink) - I wrote an entire post highlighting the reviews I did on Sanabul’s products in here the other week! For only $100 this is probably the best entry-level Gi. It’s going to last me a longggggg time, did not break the bank, and feels pretty good. Much heavier than the Gold BJJ Gi sitting at like 400 gsm though

    4. Sanabul CORE Series - this Gi is the model below the Highlight pro. Super affordable, overall great product, and probably going to last me a couple of years.

    5. I did also buy the Sanabul Essential BJJ Gi and it was the one that I probably liked the most until it shrunk on me… if you end up getting this one (it’s the cheapest), you probably want to go up the nearest full size… I am an A1L so I should have gone with a A2.

    6. Elite Sports Camo Grey Gi - I have a love/hate relationship with Elite Sports but the Gi I have is pretty awesome. When I first got it, I got a ton of compliments from people I train with but these days I don’t really find myself wearing it too often. It is a relatively lightweight gi and anything from Elite Sports is super cheap. So if you are trying to ball on a budget, that’s the brand for you

    7. Shogun Jiu Jitsu Gi - this gi is by far the nicest one I own. The liner in the inside is freakin sick but because of the material, it makes for a very warm wear. I live in a state where the heat is the biggest issue (it gets 100°F+ every day now) so wearing this in the summer is a no-go. Maybe in the wintertime, I will but for now, it’s in storage.

I had a Moya Gi and that thing totally sucked. It shrank on me after like 2 weeks of using it and found myself in deep shit trying to compete in that thing… will never buy it again because they are overpriced to begin with.
Also have a Hayabusa “Lightweight” Gi I was not a fan of… it got sun bleached after air drying - the biggest waste of $180 unfortunately.
