The process of buying a property and gaining residency in Bulgaria changed massively for us Brits.
Brexit has made us 3rd world nationals stopping all our rights to freedom of travel and automatic residency in other European countries.
However we have still decided that leaving the UK full-time is definitely the right decision for our family and is still our long term goal.
Due to the 90 day tourist visa we are currently living between GB and BG and this video is just to keep all our subscribers up to date.
Anyone who is interested in how we sorted the cash transactions to fund the buying of the property and of course spending money while in BG we use Wise.
Wise is definitely a great option as its low fees and easy to use App are brilliant. Highly recommend converting your Pounds into Euros or Leva. Click the link below to check it out.

But a funny story. Rarely by the sea, but there is a case where the winter can be very cold. That's why it's a good idea to turn off the water yourself when you leave, so that it doesn't freeze and a pipe doesn't burst. That then the problems will be much more. Have a fun summer.

      Very mild winter last winter.

@@gbtobg Yes very mild winter - last 5 or 6 winters was mild. But not every winter is like last winter. You must taken precauses messures.

@@gbtobg That's right, it was mild, but it compensated us with two months of non-stop rain, I'm already wondering where I live, in the tropics or in England :)

We did winterize the house , but the water was switched off outside of our property.

It's great to be back, we had 6 months back in the UK. Definitely 6 months too long for me. Drop me a line when you're over or just give us a shout if you see us in SB. 👍

Genius idea to have the best of both worlds...village and sunny beach. Apologies if you've mentioned this already in a video but how often is the bus?. Is it reliable etc?.

    • @gbtobg

The bus is brilliant, more regular in summer than winter. We get a monthly bus pass and save loads. Can't fault it.

@@gbtobg Awesome. I previously dismissed the idea of Sunny Beach but the idea of a village house just outside sounds great. Good luck the renovations and the relocation plans.

The turning off the water sounds like they went out of their way to do you a favor (at least a favor in their own mind). They probably found out you'll be away for a while, and turned off the water at the main line, supplying your property (since they didn't have access to your meter) - to prevent damage, since the infrastructure is usually old and prone to accidental damage. The electric company also does this often and they switch off the main breaker to your house, when they notice no consumption for 2-3 months, probably out of the same motivation. The mild winters are somewhat recent phenomenon and people are still sometimes doing things as if we're still getting harsher weather and sub-zero temps for longer time.

We had properly winterized the house and turned the stop tap off and drained the system, however I suppose they wouldn't have known this from outside the property. Don't get me wrong I agree it was probably done with the best interests, same with the electric but after installing a CCTV system and Alarm on the house it's a bit useless if they just call round and turn off the electric without notifying us. Anyway no harm done this time. And thank you for the info. ❤️🇧🇬
