This scene is the definition of bittersweet. You can see by the look on his face, that he knows he can never have Sadie. No matter how hard he tries, or no matter how hard they fall in love, the past will always prevent them from living, and I quote ‘happily ever after’. As much as it hurts him to let her go, he knows he can’t bear the pain of going through it all again, just to lose her, nor would he put her through the pain either. The writing and directing for 11/22/63 is phenomenal.
Well its a great show but it dose have flaws the ending is a bit rushed were supposed to get the idea thats why he dosent go for her again.But he all ready beat the past once proving it can be beaten an the past diddnt really fight super hard to stop him before or really ever for them being together. It feels a little rushed he would just give up so easily when he all ready beat it once before the first time it was a big event that changed everything for the worse but this is a random girl who prolly dosent have much to any impact on the future so them being together prolly wouldnt change much. Also it never felt like the past was stopping them from being together more so she was killed because he was trying to alter the big JFK thing. In the book he dosent risk going for her again because hes told going back in time more an more will damage the time bubble an eventually may burst.But in the show its more like hes afraid of what it may do to the future an that it prolly wont work.Were just kinda supposed to except that at the end an it dose work because of the acting but had they not had to follow the book so close they could have easily stretched the show out an explored all these different ideas would have made 2 more seasons
Also he did beat the past it just had consequences. The bum said he couldn't save his daughter but Jake DID save JFK. Saving Sadie would be much easier than that.
Mike K he talked to her about it but never physically attempted it. Plus I would imagine since the past fights back against people from the future. The future would probably fight against Sadie. Like the old guy said. If jake interferes with her future at all she always ends up dying. Which is why he let her go
After he said “I know” was the first time I’ve ever cried watching a TV show. Movies can make me cry every once in a while but never tv shows. After they get the last dance I cried them too, not ashamed to say it

The most heartbreaking thing isn't that he couldn't have her, but that in fact he could've have her if he wanted to.. She fell in love with him once in another life, she could do again, and again, and the emotional thing is his rationate mind, telling him he has to let her go for her best, even if he could've get her thousands times.. I feel like Jake staying with Sadie would have been better for her even if she didn't live her full life, because Sadie really loved Jake and she may have never had that kind of happiness in her life even if she lived a full life. It probably would have been fine if he pulled a Captain America and stayed in the past for the rest of his life

Sarah Godon to me up until the ending shot just looked more breathtaking and beautiful as the series went on till the end. But the ending…wow just as beautiful and heartbreaking but understanding as I ever could feel. All emotions for real.

I think this scene is the perfect metaphor for “Right person, wrong time.” That’s why this scene effects me so much. I know exactly how Jake feels.
