I saw this first hand where stock rear shocks were changed on a facelift g35/g37 and the ride height was increased. The springs werent touched at all!!!
Good info… one of my front struts is leaking on my Civic, so I’m having my front struts replaced as a pair along with both stabiliser drop links. I want even damping along with equal ride height!

bmw shock are upside down. have to pump them and yes they are mono and have internal bump stops to prevent damage shocks while car lifted😊
