  • Have some old towels sitting around? You can upcycle them into a terrycloth beach cover up with this beginner-friendly sewing tutorial.
Towel clothes are trending, which means it's the perfect time to turn a vintage towel into a reversible swimming suit or beach summer coverup. This upcycled summer fashion tutorial requires no pattern and is easy for beginners to finish!
Reusing old towels is an easy and sustainable way to keep up with the 2022 summer fashion trends. In this tutorial I'll show you step by step how I made a swimsuit cover up dress with old bath towels to refashion antiques into wearing clothing.
The best part about this terrycloth DIY is that will keep you warm and dry at the pool or the beach all summer long, and it's reversible so it fits perfectly in any minimalist capsule wardrobe.

I love your method of doing your sleeves. I have been sewing for over 50 years and you taught me something new! Thanks 👍

Thank you! It was a trail and error method I picked up from watching other projects. I was happy it worked out in this case!

You can also get a men's dress shirt, cut out the sleeves and u have a bathing suit cover. I bought mine at a resale store. So many colors to choose from!

Very nice. Thank you. I got a lot of good tips. I’m making one for my granddaughter after I tried ordering from amazon and it never arrived.

Love it! If I can't find towels how much material would I need?

Thanks Judy! Unfortunately I’m really not sure. I think it depends on what size will work best for you too. If you have a few bath towels (that you don’t want to use for this) you could just drape them on you to see if they would work, measure them and then go buy that amount of fabric? Thanks for watching!
