Back in the 2013, the world was a different place. Eläkeläiset, the greatest humppa band in the world, performed live at St. Petersburg, Russia. This video clip used to be one of my favorite live band performances on CZcams. Such enthusiasm, engagement, and honest fun between two neighboring peoples! With a bit of alcohol in the mix, no less. We Finns and you Russians really do have a lot of common!
But now in 2022, this recording stands out to me as yet another piece of evidence on our delusional optimism towards Putin's Russia. 2013 was just one year before your invasion of Crimea. I now realize that the dead-eyed, facist psychopath Putin definitely had already begun his campaign of brainwashing propaganda, as well as invasion preparations by this point. With full support of most of you, no less.
My dear Russian friends: I firmly believe, that we can go back to the days of optimism we had back nine years ago, like on this video. I know several of you personally, and you really are good, smart people. Russia is a great country with plentiful natural resources, wonderful culture, unique innovation and storied history. But the current bloodshed in Ukraine is your doing, by not only voting for your murdering, demented gangster president, but also standing idly by and letting this happen.
I mean jesus christ, what the f*ck went so wrong between us during the last 9 years?? Please, let the happier times return... Times just as this, depicted in the Eläkeläiset St. Petersburg 2013 awesome live humppa performance. Peace! ☮
Dude, Russians don't like to get into politics and don't advise others.
This video is just about music and nothing else.
I can't speak for all Russians, but I haven't changed in anything over these 9 years: I treat the Finns (and any other nations) with kindness in the same way, I still live there, in St. Petersburg. I listen to the same music and have never voted for Putin in 22 years.
From our side, the border between Finland and Russia is still open, and we have not imposed any sanctions against Finland.
So the question is, "What has changed"? you need to ask non - Russians .
I'll make a reservation right away that what is happening in Ukraine is a terrible tragedy and another evil of Putin, but if without unnecessary politics - (I started with this) -
then relations between Ukraine and Russia do not concern Finland in any way, don't you think?
